“You can really see the angled roof”

I was trying to find the angle in the pictures asking myself where the angle is and zooming in…I should have read all the way through before I started looking for it.

I meant the framing and I can only see it more so from I-77 side of uptown.  the slope is the tallest on the Tryon side then heading down to the rooftop on the College St side.

Speaking of the current Duke Energy Center the building owned by Wells Fargo is now no longer occupied by Duke Energy their lease ended 12/31/2021.

https://www.bizjournals.com/charlotte/news/2022/01/11/duke-energy-center-is-no-more.html

""The employees are all out, the signs are off the door, the wall plaques gone and the former Duke Energy Center at 550 South Tryon St. is exactly that — former.  Duke Energy Corp. (NYSE: DUK) exited the lease officially Dec. 31, although most employees at the one-time headquarters were out before the holidays, says Duke spokesman Neil Nissan.   The workers who were in the signature skyscraper have been dispersed to several existing Duke-owned properties as the company awaits completion of its own Duke Energy Plaza next year. That 40-story tower is under construction at 525 S. Tryon St.   Many of the displaced workers went to 526 S. Church St., Duke’s previous headquarters, Nissan says. That will serve as the temporary headquarters until Duke occupies its new building. Others are working out of the 400 S. Tryon St. building, where Duke still leases several floors. And others are at SouthPark's Piedmont Town Center, where Duke-owned Piedmont Natural Gas Co. Inc. has its headquarters. The company also has offices in the recently renamed 550 South building on Caldwell Street and at Optimist Hall on 16th Street.""

More room for Wells Fargo!   hmm wonder how that shag carpet and paneling in their San Fran C-suite looks compared to this building!

Did Duke exit their lease earlier than planned due to remote/hybrid work environment, or did they also intend for there to be gap between the lease and opening of new HQ?

I believe that may have changed due to the environment… considering their original consolidation plan included retaining this space. Not sure what may have been the reason. Perhaps someone knows more than I do.

The plan to consolidate was changed post covid in 2021.
