The construction crew had the westbound portion of KVB shut down between 4th and 5th ave for a large concrete pump truck. My guess is this will be until they get a pumper on site on top of the building (?). The car in front of me seemed very confused by the whole arrangement lol

Between the Tri-Brand, Holiday Inn, Margaritaville, TruHome Suites and this hotel, how many parking spots have been/are being constructed? Anybody have a figure?

It seems like an absurd amount of parking.

I agree! If you are flying into Nashville and staying there, why would you not just use uber?

One thing to consider regarding all this parking-lots of people live within driving distance of our city and they chose to DRIVE instead of fly when they visit. That gives them the freedom and flexibility to travel all over the mid state spending their time and money in pursuit of their pleasures. (And many are likely also stopping here to spend a few days while on their way to another destination.) These hotels need parking to satisfy the demands of that portion of their clientele.

Yeah, drive-in tourism is a great strength of Nashville. That's great, but if 2 people show up to rent 500 sqft hotel rooms and one of them needs an additional 300 sqft of built space to store a car, it doesn't make sense for them to split the price of the parking. Maybe I'm just a grumpy old man on this topic, but it's actually pretty expensive, and it's only fair that the people that use it should be the ones to pay for it. If we start making that change, I'll wager we'd find a few more % of people ubering or scooting or whatever, and we might not need quite as many giant garages everywhere.

Tis the way of the future. Or the way the larger cities such as  NYC, San Fran Cisco, Seattle, etc have been doing business for years. Many of those hotels dont have parking or much parking because its not cost effective and for a tourist you have to be almost crazy to drive your car to one of these cities for vacation. You fly in, take a taxi, bus, uber and walk or whatever when you get there.

When parking gets so exspensive, people will fly in or find an alternative way to do what they need to do. On a related parking note, parking is going to become a little more difficult when Metro turns the street meters over to the private company in the coming  months. They pay Metro an initial 30 million, no more free Sunday's, metered parking till ten, with several thousand new metered spaces. New thing is a parking app and ability to pay by phone. We catch up to the 21st century.

Why is everyone so obsessed with parking? We will at some point have an alternative to getting people around in the core due to necessity.

20 years ago I drove to Manhattan from Upstate New York and stayed at the Crowne Plaza Hotel near Times Square....they did have a parking garage underneath the hotel.

Cost me an arm and a leg though.
