I don't think this is a TSU project.  During the TSU Board of Trustees meeting in March the project was discussed as being a private partnership between Cobblestone and the House of God.  TSU students will be given first priority in the apartments.  TSU can elect to buy a right of first refusal to buy the property if it is later sold.   That was in the minutes of the TSU BOT meeting.

That TSU's leadership never sought to explore its own private partnership with a developer to build student housing showed a lack of understanding available options to explore various ways to increase student housing.  TSU is currently renting an entire apartment complex from the House of God.  It is a small complex on W. Heiman Street.  So, now it looks like the House of God is taking on what TSU should have.  Granted TSU loses no money in this arrangement, but it doesn't gain anything either.  There will be no revenue generated for TSU in this student housing project.  Housing is a key revenue generator for most colleges and universities.  There is no indication that TSU will receive any financial benefit to direct its students to this new complex once completed.  Whereas, had TSU entered into a private partnership with a developer it more than likely would have been a shared revenue agreement.

It should be noted that since that meeting in March the previous BOT was vacated and replaced with all new members.  TSU's current president will be stepping down at the end of June.  It is the hope of many TSU alum that TSU's newly appointed BOT's will be stronger in their leadership, institutional control and not only have greater visions/goals for the university but also know how to implement a definitive master plan.  A new president has not been selected but hat process will continue soon.  As with the BOTs, we are hopeful that TSU's next president will be a visionary that can move TSU forward making it stronger academically, attract top students and faculty and a strong force locally and globally.

It started out on Metro Permits as a Brad Barrs project. They evidently were doing the heavy lifting during the early stages of the project, and I have been watching this for about a year.
