  1. I love that building. I hope they don't do something similar to what was done to the Metropolitan.
  2. Really? That's an excellent point. It's still beyond my understanding how the City has not forcefully made them extend Pine.
  3. It filled in the gap a bit. There's still a few gaps to go though.
  4. No. I've tried getting help from her office in the past and was very disappointed.
  5. No, I gave up. The City was not being very forthcoming with info so I gave up.
  6. Construction plans have been formally resubmitted to the City. Apparently, they got their ARB approval for the updated design. They could be approved in a couple of weeks unless they have further denials. I'm guessing that they could start construction in maybe February.
  7. The Seattle area has an unemployment rate of 3.3%. It's down about 1-1.5% since the wage laws were passed. California has an unemployment rate of 3.9%.
  8. Wait, you're saying that California has a terrible economy and that it started to be terrible after minimum wage laws took effect?
  9. It's actually a very excellent paper.

Other than maybe the immediate area near the station, why can't both systems use the same tracks between the airport and the main Sunrail line?
  11. I'll take nearly anything on this lot but this is a let down for sure. I'm surprised they tried to push this through permitting without going back to ARB. Luckily, the Planning folks caught them. I'd love to see the new ARB report. It was really easy to download staff reports on their old website.
  12. Is the staff report available yet for the December hearing? It's nearly impossible to get the info on-line since they switched their system.
  13. The majority of the Mariposa ground level facade WAS the townhome units. It's difficult to see how those units could be eliminated and it not have a major design effect on that facade. It appears that the townhomes were removed on the construction plans but that it wasn't noticed or it somehow slid through without needing to go back to ARB.
  14. Correct. Those highway design decisions should be second guessed. No, they should have taken the increased costs into account when they made their planning decisions.
  15. There are a thousand ways that the E-W expressway could have been planned better in the downtown area. Most importantly, no care was given to how it would divide neighborhoods and rearrange traffic patterns. This isn't a controversial view. It should have been bridged from Mills to OBT on day one. The expressway was necessary and it also was necessary to cut through the neighborhoods it cut through. Anyway, the Cambria architect submitted revised plans to the City on 11/11 and they've already received another huge round of comments. Looks like they are trying to value engineer this into something pretty nasty.
  16. Yes. Hopefully this one starts soon. They still have a lot of building department comments but they are actively working on them at least.
  17. Did someone propose removing on street parking? I'm not seeing that anywhere.
  18. What's most interesting about this is that they apparently submitted construction plans that differed slightly (higher FAR I think) from the plans that the ARB approved. The City is correctly making them go back to ARB to get the revised design approved. Why this didn't happen with 520 Church project is a mystery to me.
  19. That's true but Shenzhen and Guangzhou together are over 140mm passengers.
  20. Strange that they lumped Baltimore with Washington and West Palm with Miami but they did not add Guangzhou or Shenzhen or Macau to Hong Kong.
  21. This is a really good point. I wish I'd gone to the hearing also to help you with this. I guess I thought it was OK because the space could be built out in the future but that's pretty flimsy. Robinson is a major cross street and it deserved to have a use on the corner.
  22. Another parking lot replacer, and this one on Orange Avenue. Excellent!
  23. So, Pine Street is not going to continue through?
  24. If you were destitute and living on the streets, your first priority would be saving up enough money to buy a car?
