  1. I think this is exactly correct.

Thank you. So, the goofy shuttle service is still an option? If someone lives in downtown Kissimmee and wants to go to downtown Orlando or to the airport, what would those two options look like?

I'm still pretty lost on what's being proposed. What is the current proposal for Sunrail to connect to the airport?
  4. Ah, yes. That's true. I forgot about that. Good catch.
  5. She voted nay. Zero republicans voted for it.
  6. I think this is a great policy. When our downtown population doubles, I'll be happy that we have space set aside for retail/restaurant use on all of these main corridors. Walking past an empty retail space is way better than walking past a block-long parking garage, in the meantime.
  7. Wow, that looks excellent. Thanks for the photo.
  8. That's a 60' r/w that would be signalized, not a small alley. It could eventually poke its way north to connect to the quasi road located behind the 7s project. Having three signals super close together and using some alternate pavement for this stretch would really slow cars down and make it feel like part of downtown.
  9. They should grid it off like this and create an awesome project.

    Brightline Trains

If they want to keep their hourly schedule down south, then that would give them two trains running the same route every hour, with one branching off for Orlando and the other continuing on to Jax. It would be cheaper to have one train from Miami to Cocoa and then passengers would choose between Jax and Orlando. I agree but if the Southeast High Speed Rail efforts continue and it eventually reaches Jax, then the demand would be huge. They're already making good progress from DC to Richmond and some progress from Richmond to Raleigh.

So that people traveling from Miami to Jacksonville would avoid stopping in Orlando to change trains, for example.

A stop in Cocoa would be required if they eventually expand to Jacksonville.
  13. These shots look great. We need ten more of these ASAP (except with the garages better hidden).
  14. A good amount of that barrier will be gone once that trumpet is out of the way. This is one of the few areas where the new I4 will be an east-west improvement in IMO. College Park and between Gore and Kaley were huge missed opportunities, but that's a different discussion.

This should have been the plan all along.
  16. I hope they don't remove the citrus trees. Those are the only ones downtown that I'm aware of.
  17. Here are a couple of photos from about ten days ago.
  18. It looks like they've completely hidden the parking garage on all three street sides unless I'm missing something. I don't even see the parking garage entrance. Maybe they're putting one or two levels underground, which would be awesome.

  20. I still can't understand who most new, urban apartment buildings are not being designed to have easily repurposed parking garages, with flat floors. I don't expect these spaces will be taken up with individual-owned vehicles in 10 or 20 years time and there's really not much that can be done with an angled parking garage when vehicle parking demand goes to zero. It's at least possible to convert the garages with flat floors to another use.
