  1. A few photos of the Peace Center renovations from this past weekend: I love the cover over the TD Pavilion. I'm also impressed with the stonework on the walls...definitely continues the Falls Park feel on to the Peace Center entrance plaza. Can't wait to return one day and see it all complete (fountains, lights, and all).
  2. Awesome photos as always, Charles! It's great to see you visited Charleston!!
  3. Is that storefront going to look something like this or be a little more watered down?
  4. As a former resident of the city and very infrequent user of downtown, I'd like to say that my interests don't matter; however, I still like what's been planned for that corner. Anybody opposed to it simply has nothing better to do with their time, which is sad on a number of levels.
  5. Wonderful photos, as always, Charles! So ... how does our Ravenel Bridge compare to the Golden Gate or even the S.F. Bay Bridge? I go to the Memorial Waterfront Park in Mount Pleasant with the kids all the time.
  6. Hey y'all. Here's an artistic take on an old favorite, taken while I was in town over the holidays. Stay unique, Greenville!
  7. Sunset photos from Pitt Street in the Old Village of Mount Pleasant, SC (across the harbor from Charleston, SC):
  8. I finally made it back out to Pitt Street in the Old Village of Mt. Pleasant and wow, what a fabulous sunset!!
  9. Here's a blast from the past (sorry, but I don't have anything recent to add ... I wish I did.):
  10. Absolutely stunning (and peaceful)!
  11. No - it's not my place. I dropped in there for lunch one weekend after taking my daughter to pick up a new violin and I was instantly hooked (I've been back twice since). The food is awesome. I had incorrectly assumed that it was part of a much larger chain until I came home and looked up their web site and found that this was the only location.
  12. Thanks! Yes, it was pure dumb luck. This one, on the other hand, all patience and skill
  13. Some people don't like their cheese melted or buns toasted... Psssst... Sonrise, if you're still looking for a good franchise opportunity, check out ... currently, the one and only is on Savannah Hwy. in West Ashley in Chucktown. They will give Zaxby's and Raising Cane's a run for their money.
  14. So....how is that Dunkin' Donuts flagship coming along?
  15. Oh sure... *NOW* someone decides that Cherrydale needs a Five Guys.
  16. BTW - that store in Haywood looks to be pretty darned big. It's definitely bigger than the ones I'm used to on King Street in Charleston and at the Park Meadows Mall in Lone Tree and Aspen Grove in Littleton. From the looks of the enthusiastic reception, it seems Greenville definitely needs the large store, though.
  17. Those photos still don't quite do it justice...how about a video that someone (not me) posted on flickr? <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="400" height="300" data="http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf?v=71377" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"> <param name="flashvars" value="intl_lang=en-us&photo_secret=fca6202b3e&photo_id=4779845155"></param> <param name="movie" value="http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf?v=71377"></param> <param name="bgcolor" value="#000000"></param> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf?v=71377" bgcolor="#000000" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="intl_lang=en-us&photo_secret=fca6202b3e&photo_id=4779845155" height="300" width="400"></embed></object> If that doesn't work, here's the link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/43179250@N02/4779845155/
  18. Great shots, Allen! It's amazing the people you run into in the Lowcountry sometimes: I'm happy to report that there were *many* Drive Fans in attendance at Joe Riley Park in Charleston.
  19. That is one awesome plane! I missed it by a couple of days. It would have been cool to see it back when it was carrying the Buran. One more from my brief recent visit:
  20. You mean you have to pay to ride Lynx? Seriously, though - when we were visiting, we wondered if there was much abuse of the honor system. 1/2 of a percent is pretty darned good, relative to other systems.
  21. ^^ Thanks, y'all. I should have moved a little further down the Central Avenue overpass, though ... those light posts are in the way! Here's one from the NASCAR Hall of Fame:
  22. I was in town on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and I had an opportunity to *finally* ride the Blue Line on Thursday and Saturday. The trains I rode were PACKED both days. I was expecting (hoping at least) to be a sardine on Thursday. I wasn't expecting it on Saturday. The train I rode on Saturday had half as many cars...that may have had something to do with how packed it was, but it was full...standing room only. At any rate, it's a very user-friendly and very clean line...and something of which Charlotte should be very proud!
