  1. Went to the Greenville Zoo yesterday for the first time in a while...the African exhibits are very nice and there are some new sculptures in the zoo...but my favorite exhibit is always the Joys:
  2. ^^Thanks! I wasn't able to get a ticket for Sunday's game ... serves me right for waiting until the last minute. Here's one from earlier this afternoon in T.R.:
  3. That's incredible! They could have sold at least a few hundred more tickets, too ... they were turning people away (including me) at the box office left and right. I knew I should have gotten my ticket on Friday, but I didn't envision them ever selling out of Lawn & Deck.
  4. Take me out to the ballpark...John Smoltz is pitching Sunday at 4:00pm for the Drive.
  5. That's great, guys! I would have taken y'all up on the free ride offer had I not been a tad preoccupied with a scavenger hunt and keeping an eye on my youngest.
  6. Street Scene from just another Saturday in Downtown Greenville...
  7. Sounds like part of Mast General Store standing alone on its own...
  8. Holy cow! I didn't think it entirely possible, but that parking deck at the Main@Broad has really closed this street in! It has a completely different feel to it now.
  9. If I'm not mistaken, this is the old Scott's Fertilizer plant just north of Roe Ford Road near Furman.
  10. I haven't seen any renderings specifically of the wall, but it was described to me by one of the volunteers while my kids were painting their tiles. The wall will be covered with plain white tiles and the ones that the kids painted will be sprinkled here and there along the wall randomly...and should be much more vividly colored once they've been fired.
  11. I would agree that overall the site is very good at providing some insight into businesses that have found success and quality-of-life type things that are a real draw for Greenville; however, the interface is initially a little plain and the Explore Downtown takes a little while to load. Absolutely! Instead of promoting Greenville as a small town that thinks big, I really feel that recruiting efforts should focus on a consistent message that Greenville is a Large City with a Small Town Charm. It's a simple change of mindset and a subtle change of marketing focus, but it'd be an appropriate one, in my opinion.
  12. These tiles were being painted to be included on the fountain wall next to the green at the Main@Broad development, which is what they're calling "Village Green."
  13. Downtown Greenville's Development Initiative's (DGDI) web site - THRIVE GREENVILLE - is live! Check it out: http://www.thrivedowntown.com/
  14. I wasn't sure, but I thought I saw a blue blaze on that tree on the left, but now that I'm on a computer with a better display, it doesn't look like that tree is blazed. Sounds like you started on either the Mountain Creek (orange blaze) or Sulphur Springs (white blaze) trail. They both share a stretch for a bit, too, and the Sulphur Springs trail meets up with and shares the Firetower trail on the loop back. Sounds like fun, whichever trails you were on.
  15. Gonna have to take my daughter hiking again soon...once my toe completely heals (broke it a few weeks ago). Is that the firetower trail?
  16. I noticed that section when I went to the post office yesterday. I hadn't realized that it was still unpaved. I'm not sure why...that's not a section of trail that was slated to be paved over by the City of TR with pavers/concrete, so I'm a bit confused as to why it wasn't paved to start with. The equipment has pretty much been sitting there by the BP throughout the rainy spell and I doubt they can get it paved before tomorrow evening, so I would assume that section of the 5K will be run on the gravel/dirt.
  17. Two great things that go great together, even if they are 110 miles apart:
  18. Late submission, but ... Had loads of fun at the Duck Derby today and with the Greenville Inner Cirkus/Greenville Gaff Contingent brushing up on hula hoop techniques in Falls Park!
  19. Reference the updated T.R. Master Plan maps and you'll find your answer. Work will begin this month and last through the autumn to implement many of these changes along the trail and also along South Main Street in Travelers Rest. Specifically landscape and hardscape will be going in along these sections of the trail that were not paved.
  20. Travelers Rest - near the BP/Amoco Station.
  21. Not sure how closely y'all have been following the Greenville Drive this season, but they're in first place in their division. This is the best team I've seen them have on the field in 4 years. Also - if you're on Twitter, follow the GreenvilleDrive on Twitter for reminders of upcoming games, promotions, and re-caps of yesterday's scores/performances.
  22. Hahaha. StrangeCock, did you have anything to do with this? This is pretty cool. It'd be cool if they'd hang banners side-by-side for each of the shows in the current season, or at the very least hang one for the current/upcoming show.
