  1. Anyone interested in taking part in the Ribbon Cutting and 5K? Registration Form HERE.
  2. Great! The northern terminus is supposed to be there at Cedar Creek Drive in Renfrew, just a little ways north of Williams. I'll get out and snap some photos soon and also try to scan in the landscape/streetscape renderings from the city newsletter. I noticed that the official "Swamp Rabbit Trail" signs have also been put up along the trail in addition to the other signage that had previously been put in place.
  3. That'd be cool. I read in the Travelers Rest "Talk of the Town" (city news letter) that the concrete barriers that have been placed along the trail in the parking areas along South Main Street are temporary (thank goodness - they're a bit of an eye sore). They're going to be replaced by proper curbing and landscaping to shield pedestrians and cyclists from vehicle traffic. This should begin in May and be complete by the autumn.
  4. Fence posts are going in along the sides of the trail in T.R. ... still no sign of asphalt yet, but shouldn't be long considering May 8th is just around the corner.
  5. Moonlight Movies is back beginning May 6th! See the Ad posted on Facebook. Date: Wednesday, May 6, 2009 Time: 8:00pm - 11:00pm Location: Peace Center Ampitheater Movie: E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial (1982 - Drew Barrymore) Date: Wednesday, May 13, 2009 Time: 8:00pm - 11:00pm Location: Peace Center Amphitheater Movie: Sabrina (1954 - Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart) Date: Wednesday, May 20, 2009 Time: 8:00pm - 11:00pm Location: Peace Center Amphitheater Movie: A Fistful of Dollars (1967 - Clint Eastwood) Date: Wednesday, May 27, 2009 Time: 8:00pm - 11:00pm Location: Peace Center Amphitheater Movie: Breaking Away (1979 - Dennis Quaid, Daniel Stern) I, for one, am thankful for free entertainment such as this throughout the spring and summer months. Way to go, City of Greenville!
  6. That's beautiful, Skyliner! I've gotta get back up to Twin Falls again soon.
  7. Relax. It'll be paved before May 8th, for sure. There's a ribbon cutting in Travelers Rest at 6:00pm on May 8th, followed by the Greenville Hospital System Swamp Rabbit 5K at 6:30pm.
  8. Thanks, guys! gsupstate: would you believe that was shot from a moving car at probably close to 40mph? Hi, Mike! Did you ever get those on the wall? I'm going to have to drop by again and check them out.
  9. ^^ People who have obviously never seen MissDestructio walking around.
  10. Neither day nor night, but dusk and dawn are my favorite times to see Greenville.
  11. Was it torn down or did it burn down? We drove by there on our way to Atlanta a few weeks ago and it looked like it had burned and was surrounded with yellow caution tape.
  12. Things are starting to green up, but there's always a tint of Clemson Orange in the air...it's Spring in the Upstate.
  13. Yea - there's a 5K along this trail starting at Sunrift and going toward Furman on May 8th, so it should be paved before then, for sure. I'm stoked!
  14. I think you named them all. It's funny, though ... sporting goods are one of those segments where people will shop competitively and actually take the time to go from one store to the other to find the best price. I wouldn't be surprised if all 3 remain open for a while.
  15. Thanks, Zahc! No - this was actually just before dusk with a storm front moving in.
  16. Yes. From here out, I shall be known as "the Arrested Traveler."
  17. Wow! The one on Laurens Road is still open? I had no idea. No - they don't need 2 stores...not in my opinion, but they do need to distance themselves from Academy Sports and Dick's a bit more, I think. I'm not sure that retreating to Laurens Road is a good idea either, though.
  18. For that matter, we've got a vacant former Goody's location at Cherrydale that's begging for a Sports store or Book store....nothing on this end of town currently fulfilling that need.
  19. If the Sports Authority does decide to stick around, I'd give some serious consideration into moving into the old Goody's location or perhaps even the old Circuit City location, if I were them. It seems a prime opportunity to fill a vacant space in one of the other centers while at the same time freeing up one more space at MPTC for complete redevelopment.
  20. ^^Very nice! I'm getting in the mood to go shoot some light trails again.
