  1. Couldn't agree more. I also think it makes more sense to be taller nearer the river to help configure East Bank as an extension of the existing downtown. And then, as you said, step down in height moving toward the interstate to blend into East Nashville.
  2. I've been fighting them for at least six months and that's on my desktop computer. I just figured it was a decision made by UP to monetize their platform. The ads are really annoying, yet I love this forum so much that I have just dealt with it. Now I'm wondering why some of us don't get them.
  3. Very nice. Will definitely stand out over there stylistically.
  4. Love the increase in retail space. Hate the design change. It's decent looking; just prefer the previous version. Those stair stepping setbacks added a unique flair. Now just another hunk of a building...little brother to the two very similar ones in Midtown.
  5. LMBO!!!! Mother Nature is waiting for the building to be completely empty and then she's going to surgically remove it with the first ever non-traveling tornado!
  6. If you haven't seen it, good recap of a recent vist to Nashville was left on the Bits and Pieces string by Nashmoney. The recap mentions how coworkers making their first visit to town were very pleased overall, yet commented on the lack of mass transit. I keep reading debates about BRT lines and dedicated lanes. How are either of those realistically EVER going to work in Nashville???? To me, both those options are like shuffling chairs on the Titanic. I don't care which chair you pick, you're going down. I was there in March and the traffic was horrible period. Rush hour or not, just horrible. I distinctly remember driving ftom downtown to get to I-24 south and thinking, these lanes and interchanges look exactly the same from when I left Nashville THIRTY YEARS AGO. That is just incredible to me. And the state of disrepair with potholes and gravel and litter about was sad. How can we ever be ready for our closeup with Mr. DeMille like this??? Nashville needs REAL mass transit...yesterday.
  7. Excellent summary Nashmoney. The part about riding on gravel made me think of my most recent stay. Stayed in the very same SjR Parkway area in Smyrna and traveling down I-24 made me so disappointed for Nashville. Kinda like a beautiful prom queen with a stunning dress and jewelry, but with no shoes, scaly feet, and long toenails. I wish your coworkers comments about the "lack of mass transit" could somehow be echoed to the powers that be. IMO, adding true mass transit would help attract even bigger and better conventions and events.
  8. Count me with the voices calling for a start on the other two projects. I was actually hoping the Gibson sister tower might start relatively soon. The lottery win would be it and Edition starting together.
  9. Will you explain your reasoning? How does this transaction relate to the Ritz moving forward? #lookingforreasonstohope
  10. Doubly cool feeling looking at this image. Cool that this project is coming and so cool to see Troy Drive, the street where I spent my last five or six years in Nashville, in the image!! It's the second horizontal residential street going up from the project in the middle of the image. My stepmother still lives there, and I'll be there later this month for a niece's high school graduation.
  11. Glad to hear this news and super glad to see the Albion Music Row midtown project get moving as well. Would REALLY like to see a project or two get underway in the midtown wastelands (area bordered by 16th extended to Charlotte. Cjar;ptte. I-40, and Broadway).
  12. No access to article. Why do they need to convince the FAA? Is such a decision up to the FAA or the airport itself? No tall buildings and no long runways!?!?!?
  13. That's a pretty big footprint. I'm guessing this turns out to be another of the monolithic low-rise housing projects similar to the others in that area.
  14. Aww, look at little Haven. It's starting to grow on me. Like a fungus.
  15. Hope so. That roof is sweet!! And I agree with your use of the word, iconic. I think it is a visual identifier (building and roof) of the city!
  16. Lot of activity in Toronto, which already has a really cool skyline. Here's a massive project planned for their midtown area. Images courtesy Urbanize Toronto. 90-110 Eglinton Ave. East will feature two 58-story towers, connected by 6-storey bridge at levels 5-10, and contain a total of 1,035 residential units, and 25,565 sf of publicly accessible open space. 150-164 Eglinton Ave. East will feature two 61-story towers and contain a total of 1,329 residential units and 28,850 sf of publicly accessible open space.
