  1. are they planning a parking deck on the surface lot? Or is this associated with the stadium renovations?
  2. so disappointing that this building is not following the curve of the road. along with that, this is going to be a skinny building as well
  3. I agree, the one in Raleigh is quite a nice addition to Fayetteville St.
  4. well it was dark when i took the dog for a walk, but look closely and you will see the east bound side of the bridge has had the faulty girders removed. Me thinks this is record pace for demolition of a partially built bridge. Any takers?? Anyhow, they were prepping stuff this evening for removing west bound lanes. Doubt any get moved tonight, but #progress???? (put an upward inflection on that, and itll make sense)
  5. Is the parking deck complete going to be hidden in the middle of this complex? If so, kudos to them.
  6. How much do Tower Cranes cost to rent? I'm thinking about putting one up at my house just to add to the mix. I know its a risk investment, but I think it will pay off in the long run.
  7. I think the crane confirms that they are indeed at work! I couldnt tell if they have already removed a girder or two, but should see a few done overnight. Thats based on my professional accounting experience.
  8. what brand hotel/more importantly, how tall?
  9. the bridge was quite noisy last night as well...hopefully they will be working day and night to get it somewhat back on schedule...
  10. so the Charlotte Observer article from March of this year says the Moxy is to break ground in Q3...any news on this? https://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/business/biz-columns-blogs/development/article228177534.html
  11. but whats the likelihood that happens? Seems like Levine would actually have that building completed before any litigation ensues
  12. really wish FNB could have pushed this building a bit higher...it is going to be a great building, just wanting it to be a bit taller than 365..
  13. is this building not needing a tower crane?
  14. I dont want this to come across as negative in any way...but Catch On and Toucan Louie's were both fairly new businesses. For them to put 100% of the blame on CATS, in my opinion, is a bit of a stretch. Im not saying that this construction did not have an impact on business, but so far, I have only read about two businesses closing - Toucan Louie's and Catch On. Millennials (who make up a vast majority of the apartment complexes around these two businesses) are probably not looking to buy fresh expensive seafood, and Toucan Louie's had little advertising in the area except for a small sign on the shop and a prop up sign on Central Ave that is easy to miss. I hate that this construction has had such a negative impact on our area, but once this is complete, it will spur business and investment.
  15. I say UP convinces the city to have it demolished. I love a good building implosion...saw one in NOLA one year...It was SPECTACULAR!
  16. I dont see Delta vamping up their CLT routes very much. With in the past year or two they have deemed RDU as a focus city and since CLT is right in between RDU and ATL, we could see a route or two added to CLT but I would expect RDU to receive more Delta destinations than CLT. https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/flights/todayinthesky/2019/01/22/delta-air-lines-raleigh-durham-focus-city-now-29-destinations/2643736002/
  17. Fox and NBC were out on Hawthorne on the Central side of the bridge yesterday and this morning. Even asked our nanny for comment! But expect to see a story today or in the next few days on the main news outlets around here. Probably wont be any new info we dont already know, just a chance for neighbors to vent and complain about the pending nightly noise they are going to be hearing.
  18. unforeseen circumstances What happens if the new girders are wrong?
  19. really excited about this one getting bigger...the one in Raleigh is sharp looking IMO.
  20. Good thing they "renovated" the ole Family Dollar sign to that awful Central Square sign...people will be lining up to buy this parcel.
  21. hope the old brick buildings stay as I think those were part of an old railroad depot of some sort...the actual strip mall can go...as long as they find a close location for Bistro La Bon and Yama...love those places.
  22. I emailed the city about this a few months ago, the person who sends out the weekly emails on the Gold Line progress for Hawthorne Lane told me that the contractor 100% screwed up the girders. Of course he did not mention the city's role in the issue, but his words led me to believe that the city had provided correct specs and the contractor just mucked up...
  23. The Regions building looks almost hidden in front of the Westin...actually it looks like its part of it
  24. That could possibly be the greatest thing ive ever seen What happened to the City of Charlotte? Ask Ricky Davis Fan...he defamed it
