  1. is anyone aware of movement on the Even Hotel? last thing this city needs is an unfinished building on a bustling part of Uptown...we already have one...
  2. https://www.bizjournals.com/charlotte/news/2019/09/09/jpmorgan-buys-land-atmetropolitan-development-in.html?iana=hpmvp_clt_news_headline its a subscriber article, but JP Morgan Chase purchased the vacant lot next to the Met. It was previously owned by Levine Properties? Is that the same Levine?
  3. agreed...My Dad is going to be upset at this one...good news is Two Scoops up the road on central has good ice cream, even though its more expensive...support your local businesses!
  4. makes you wonder if the Gold Line will have a similar fate in 100 to 200 years...at least we can count on the Hawthorne Lane Bridge being rebuilt for the Silver Line!
  5. "Oh wow, Levine blocked me" CLT Development....that one made me lol
  6. drove by this project going down 10th yesterday...there has been some sort of "work" going on along the sidewalk...not sure if that is the "construction" people were anticipating, but the site was "active". Any one have any info on that?
  7. is a 50 MPH road considered high speed? If the rail goes down that corridor, it seems like the Hawthorne Lane bridge would be the least of their worries. 277 interchanges/bridge over Pecan seem to be more of an issue.
  8. Thats what I thought was going to happen. If the rail gets built, it would get built in the express bus lanes. my vote is to Tunnel under everything!
  9. Lets say its not designed for the silver line...wouldn't/couldn't Independence be modified to accommodate for the line?
  10. I get that the city is incompetent, but I really find it hard that they would tear down the Hawthorne Bridge again for the silver line...maybe they would in like 25 years? Whats the average useful life of a bridge?
  11. Latest email from the city states that girders on Hawthorne Bridge are scheduled to be removed starting September 18th.
  12. what are the two white buildings on the left of the 1985 photo?
  13. Is the high rise portion of this project on college st or the light rail?
  14. I can confirm its storm water updates...the City sent out fliers about two weeks ago about it...Concerning the streetcar construction...they haven't even finished conduit installation on the Central side of Independence on Hawthorne...we are being neglected over here...at least the street is quiet for the most part.
  15. Has anyone seen movement on this? Drove by on Wednesday on the way home from work and it still looks like it has for the past 3 years...ghost town.
  16. Started following UP when I began working Uptown in March of 2018, first time posting. Im on Hawthorne Lane near the proposed last stop and get weekly updates from the city and was told to potentially see bridge construction starting back in late October or September with a completion around sometime in April of 2020 (doubt that). Anyone hearing similar things?
