  1. Yes, Forest Park Family Apartments, by NRP Group LLC. 16.56 acres, sold for $2.075m in November 2021.
  2. Dense and visually pleasing? Not in SouthPark, but I formally present to you, Queen City Townes at Old Pineville & Scholtz. (Redeeming Note: It's a 5-minute walk to the Woodlawn LYNX Station.)
  3. Not Plaza Midwood, but Julia Maulden Place in Optimist Park - backs up to Parkwood Ave. Check out these beauties!
  4. Found it! https://foxcroftplace.com/
  5. Yes, this one has been very interesting to follow since the beginning, on my daily lunch commutes. Glad the utility tie-in work under the road is finally nearing completion. Also, 2 doors down at 2317, there's a new home under construction that seems to have stalled, with a new For Sale sign by the road.
  6. Latta Arcade is the interior portion of the building - aka the arcade. Brevard Court is the name of the exterior alley.
  7. Yes, the Metrolina term is still around, you just need to know where to look. - I grew up being familiar with Metrolina Christian Academy, a K-12 under First Baptist Church of Indian Trail. - There's a Metrolina Regional Scholars Academy in The Exchange at Tyvola & I-77. - There's numerous medical offices and other business that use the Metrolina name.
  8. In what century is CATS/CDOT planning to repair the utility boxes at the Tom Hunter and Owen intersections? These have been damaged for several years now. The black paint has also been chipping off the fencing at the Tom Hunter Station. Does CATS/CDOT not have a process to maintain what they already have? Photos below at Tom Hunter Road, 3/21/23.
  9. Several years ago, I spoke with someone familiar with the project at LS3P, about the overall design aesthetic. Remember when we just complained about the neoclassical/1980's suburban office park design, and not the lack of retail? They said Lincoln Harris dictated what they wanted, and they "bit their tongue" and gave them that design. I'm looking at you too, Capitol Towers! This will take more than SouthPark Grill's bright blue awnings to succeed. Oh wait, they're now permanently closed too...
  10. Wells Fargo announces $500 million worth of improvements in the Charlotte area. Includes a new parking deck and other renovations at the Customer Information Center in University City. https://www.wsoctv.com/news/local/wells-fargo-announcing-500-million-worth-improvements-charlotte-area/32KUKV45Q5CW5IRXV3S4XA7OQA/
  11. You heard it here first. New Chick-fil-A location coming to the vacant Hardee's outparcel at Town Center Plaza on University City Blvd at Harris Blvd. This will be a relief for customers at the nearby Chick-fil-A at Harris Blvd & University Executive Park Drive.
  12. This is correct. A majority of their employees already reside east of Charlotte. I'm not aware of their current numbers, but the Foundry will employ just over 500 people over 3 shifts, and I believe this does not include the detached Office building.
  13. Saturday walk through the campus of Belmont Abbey College. So much history in our backyard. The Abbey Basilica of Mary Help of Christians was completed in 1894 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. (Fun Fact: I helped design the basilica's new front doors on my first day of work in 2015.)
  14. Not sure how you found a Charlotte address. Google Maps shows 20047 Silver Road, Oakboro, NC 28129 as Concrete Pipe & Precast. It's my first screenshot above.
  15. Great photos. To answer a couple points, yes, they purchased and expanded a warehouse at 424 W 8th Street. Warehouse only. Concrete Pipe & Precast is next door at 20047 Silver Road. CP&F (not to be confused with CP&P) is a separate company and doesn't manufacture concrete. Founded in 1901, CP&F is the nation's top maker of cast iron and plastic pipe and fittings, with 7 plants around the US. One of their plastics locations is in nearby Monroe. https://www.charlottepipe.com/plant_locations.aspx Limited production has already begun at the Foundry, on certain days. To answer your questions, what you noticed around the Foundry are large dust collectors. There are also several fume collectors. Google finally updated their imagery of this area a few weeks ago, taken in early November.
  16. He might've meant Mt. Pleasant, SC, if he's coming from south of town. Little does this guy know we're on some forum over-analyzing his conversation 2 days later.
  17. New Crane Alert! Myers Park UMC's new Multi-Purpose Building
  18. Well that makes me feel OLD! I worked on this adaptive re-use project during a summer internship with Andujar Construction in 2014.
  19. As an architect who has made videos of this nature before, the graphic alone is impressive. However, this illustrates that we'll all be in the ground before this project is completed.
  20. I could fully see them going the route of Sharon United Methodist Church, now SouthPark Church.

    Ballantyne

Ballantyne has several parks, but they're not as high-profile as this new development. Elon Park, Ballantyne District Park, Flat Branch Nature Preserve, Davie Park (on 51), and the Lower McAlpine Creek Greenway to name a few.
  22. It's a shame that I-85 S to I-77 S still merges down to just ONE lane, after all of the toll redesign. It never addressed the actual problem. A tractor trailer overturned just yesterday: https://www.wcnc.com/article/traffic/crash-involving-overturned-vehicle-closes-ramp-at-i-77s-to-i-85s-exit-38-medic/275-972712fd-ab87-4ca3-98b7-751662b2bdee
  23. I'm an architect on the project. I believe the latest is that they hope to start a portion of their production lines later this spring, but don't expect any drawdown of Charlotte operations until the fall. That was my latest understanding, but it may have changed. I assume that it'll be several years before the site is "shovel-ready" for any new development.
