I was about to mention Urban Outfitters too. It was the first thing that popped in my mind when I read the article. Not sure if it's considered something that would drastically change Greenville, but it would be different from what we have downtown currently.

Completely agree. I'm still confused about the DRB exemption. Why would the County want this change? Is it to allow the developer to use cheaper materials/design?

I appreciate that perspective. When talking to planners I've really only heard the negatives about the UGB in Portland, so it's good to know that there are positives.

I believe we've stayed away from this approach because of what's happened in places like Portland. Their Urban Growth Boundary ultimately led to more sprawl. Greenville County's new comprehensive plan (which was just voted in last week) offers solutions to this though. I'd recommend checking it out if you haven't yet. Can't be worse than Myrtle Beach. Every time I go down there there's at least 5 new pizza restaurants. Some right next door to each other.
