  1. It's my understanding that the tower will be 120' tall but the observation deck will be 100'. Is that right?
  2. One of the problems though is Greenville's location and proximity to other cities with well-established music scenes. It's my understanding that bands/artists have to sign a contract with the venue that includes language saying that the band/artist can't also book at a different venue within a certain distance. So with Greenville being so close to Charlotte, Atlanta, Asheville, and even Columbia, we often get excluded from many band/artist tours because of these contracts and end up having to compete with those cities to attract bands/artists. Which can be difficult considering the well-established music scenes in these cities. Also, I love the entertainment options in Greenville. It would be cool to see more variety though.
  3. Wish we could have something like Asheville's Orange Peel downtown. I could see the gateway site being a good location for something like that. I know that's a hard market in Greenville though considering the close proximity of Asheville, Charlotte, and Atlanta.
  4. This whole area is about to be transformed. It's an ongoing project. And the Commons have still been very busy since they opened even with the lack of signage. I think social media has helped with this.

  7. Based on some pictures from a Google review, it looks like it is in the below ground space. Reminds me of The Trappe Door a little bit... dark and rustic. Excited to try it out.
  8. Neat Bourbon Bar is officially open according to GVLToday. Any bourbon aficionados out there? Neat Bourbon Bar, downtown Greenville’s “first bourbon themed bar” is now open at 109 N. Main St. The Oakblue Kitchen signage is still up outside, but don’t let that fool you. Ask to have your drink smoke infused with apple wood chips.
  9. I wonder what stance the new City Council members will take though. And I wonder if that has anything to do with moving this to the new year.
  10. Maybe they could move it to the gateway site...

  12. We're also running out of space for developments like this. If we keep only building out with 6 story buildings and refrain from going vertical then communities like Haynie-Sirrine will most certainly be pushed out eventually. Increasing density and going vertical in locations like County Square is the only way to maintain these neighborhoods. There's only so many places you can build. Everybody wants "smart growth" until it's in their backyard. Someone's got to give.

  16. Weren't there plans submitted to the DRB to include an ivy wall feature on the garage? I thought I remember seeing something about that. But I agree, the location is very unfortunate. I see it likely getting torn down eventually.

  18. That's a big shame. And the artists in this building are some of the best in Greenville, in my opinion.
