  1. The old bridges right before CarMax need to be replaced in the next phase, so this section is going to get much worse before it gets better. But, all that construction stopped just short of Harris Blvd, it used to go back all the way to Albermarle Rd.
  2. In what way was the original better? Specifically when it comes to the Church St interaction. I am glad they are getting this over with now, it will be very nice to have all that stretch of Church St have new life with the Bohemian and this remodel engaging the street!
  3. Yesterday's Around the Crown 10k was an event that screams Charlotte. Many local companies involved... NoDa Brewing Co even made a special lager... not the greatest beer, but still a cool way to celebrate. RedVentures took over the last mile -- and called it the Red Mile. The sheer number of people that showed up to run was impressive! I think (recurring) events like this are a great way to engage people and in the process create culture!
  4. I was down in Augusta. Went to a liquor store, they had Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, W.L. Weller all in stock. Told me exactly when Blanton's arrives and said that the waiting list for Pappy Van Winkle is long enough to last a few years... (so no cigar) All that to say, I am back in stock on some good bourbon... but dang why is it so difficult to find around here...
  5. This ^^^... The university makes a ton of money on parking fees. So, they had to make sure there was no "free" parking available nearby -- especially when you could hop onto the Blue Line and ride one stop on to campus.
  6. I still only count 9 floors. Did we miss something or is there one more floor left to go up?

    Ballantyne

I met up with a friend for lunch at Zeitouni Mediterranean Grill (great place btw) and noticed Duke Energy installing a transformer in the middle of the parking lot. I took a picture of the white cabinet right next to the transformer... looks like Tesla is installing a new Supercharger in the parking lot.
  8. I was just at the Salesforce Tower in London (old Heron Tower)... would love another 700+ft tower in Charlotte! BTW, that part of London (around Liverpool Station) is exploding with growth. Felt like our Stonewall corridor.
  9. Unless phase 3 includes putting the Gold Line in its own ROW, there should not be any more talk of Gold Line expanding.
  10. I feel sorry for the Wells Fargo lot at 4525 Sharon Road... according to the Observer Daniel Levin (of Levine Properties) just bought that lot/building for $13.6 mil https://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/business/biz-columns-blogs/development/article234072032.html
  11. This right here... The streetcar needs to be better then taking a car down the same route, not worse.
  12. On another note, does anyone else feel like this project stalled over the past few weeks?
  13. Interesting that Mecklenburg County is the current impedement to getting rid of the ABC charade https://www.charlotteagenda.com/174638/north-carolina-could-close-its-abc-stores-and-privatize-liquor-sales-but-mecklenburg-county-isnt-on-board/
  14. Exactly what it is saying. So, we have a Portuguese jobs announcement coming sometime soon.
  15. Guess I should have been more careful with my last bottle.
  16. I've lived in Charlotte for 20+ years now and have not run into this issue until now. For the past month or so I have been looking for some Blanton's without shipping it half way across the country. I have now checked with multiple stores both NC and SC without luck. In the process found out Frugal MacDoogal stopped carrying anything from Buffalo Trace Distillery (Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, etc). Where do the good folks of UP get their decent Bourbon? Thanks for your help!
  17. That and the Silver line has a stop planned (granted this is early on) right there at Graham St...
  18. There is a threshold, just like with Ally building, once you add a certain number of floors you have to provide additional access (I believe it was elevator only, but not certain). It is possible 42 is that threshold. Plus, 42 is always the right answer
  19. Then there was the 3rd proposal for condos around 2008...
  20. Since this rendering was hidden on the observer article...
  21. It really does help with the perception of this project when we get updates like that... Just look at what they are working with inside... the ramp and bobcat inside...
  22. I like looking at the methodology for these score places... WalkScore is nothing more then a glorified pop-density map with a fancy title. Source: https://www.walkscore.com/methodology.shtml
