  1. Commies have done this. I find it fascinating how narrow minded some folks can be. The freedom to move freely is one of the biggest economic advantages the American people have! Now, you can ban diesel and gas all you want, but to ban personal transport would be like being shot point blank for the US economy.
  2. While it pays homage to the Charlotte Beige, SouthEnd needs more hotel options... pronto!
  3. Meck County fiscal year starts July 1st as well. The 2020 budget is published here, https://www.mecknc.gov/CountyManagersOffice/OMB/Documents/FY2020 Adopted Budget.pdf
  4. Not enough time or room in the budget, city fiscal year is from July 1st. So, really a year and a half.
  5. They are... they need to have the city shining during the RNC, so the road, track and sidewalk work has to be done by summer!
  6. Another find from my rezoning app review... Fly Wheel Group filed a rezoning petition for 2.5 acres of land (proposed zoning TOD-UC) at 3000 N Tryon St, Charlotte, NC 28206 This is almost directly across Tryon from NoDa Brewing... no site plan yet, but application is here http://ww.charmeck.org/Planning/Rezoning/2019/170-185/2019-171 application.pdf
  7. Was reviewing December rezoning applications and ran into this application 2019-173 - 150 acres for light industrial (I-1) zoning. Does anyone think this application is odd, or is it just to get the site work and road re-alignments?? Site plan can be found here... http://ww.charmeck.org/Planning/Rezoning/2019/170-185/2019-173 site plan.pdf
  8. Don't get me wrong, I am anti Street Car unless it's in a dedicated right-of-way (ROW). So, until further changes are made to the Gold Line, I am anti Gold Line and want the money to go 100% to the Silver Line.
  9. This was the reason I gave <1% for fast track. Also, the city used Street Car as a way to repair/upgrade/relocate ancient utilities under Trade St.
  10. <1% chance on the first point. <0.1% chance on the second one.
  11. This is part of the same phase of 74 widening that includes Sardis Rd North being bridged over 74 and connecting to NorthEast PKWY (new road) Like the old Texas Roadhouse, that Mattress Firm store is a goner also! project site https://www.ncdot.gov/projects/us-74-express-lanes/Pages/default.aspx PDF of Aerial Map 1 https://www.ncdot.gov/projects/us-74-express-lanes/Documents/AerialMap1.pdf PDF of Aerial Map 2 https://www.ncdot.gov/projects/us-74-express-lanes/Documents/AerialMap2.pdf
  12. This rendering is from the gateway district docs. If you match it to the map outline a few posts above, there is a lot of potential for this area, just needs a champion to push it through. Maybe David Tepper is the man for the job!
  13. There is so much room you can slice it 10 different ways. The general layout is (note: exclude the block with courthouse): And, yes, the old garage at mint and graham is worth tearing down!
  14. They also have a Twitter account for those that care for such things... https://twitter.com/CharlotteMLS/status/1206956326565400578
  15. Pictures or it didn't happen! @KJHburg are you going to be checking on your parking hut today?
  16. And that low crane is this one: (from Google Street View)
  17. @jtmonk was right, there are 11. There is one low tower crane between EY and Spectrum sites. What is that construction site?? (highlighted below)
  18. 10 tower cranes and 1 red mobile crane ( still give the doughnuts to @jtmonk )
  19. And yet we have ppl confusing us with Charleston or Charlottesville regularly.
  20. And we need to first get "Charlotte" to a point where it cannot be mistaken for anything/place else, then we can work on secondary names.
  21. A crisp Wednesday in the Queen City:
  22. I got to sit in on the Barings/UNC Charlotte Economic Forecast at UNC Charlotte Uptown campus and snapped these photos...
  23. Our go to spot for out of town guests is Halcyon at the Mint Museum Uptown -- the food is amazing and the setting makes it easy to show off Charlotte. Bardo is great, no doubt, but the seating is pretty limited.
  24. Alright, I've been out of town and need my construction pics fix... can someone snap an update?
