  1. I have no knowledge what soever but maybe something involving projections up the building would be innovative and not ruin the building too much!
  2. My immediate guess is that United and Delta have more hubs approved for international arrivals than AA. I may be wrong but AA has DFW, MIA, JFK and LAX (later two are not fortress hubs so with low traffic makes sense to cut); DL has ATL, DTW, MSP, SEA, JFK, LAX; UA has IAH, EWR, SFO and IAD (all of which are fortress hubs). AA is also hurt by the fact that a majority of TATL traffic goes through Philadelphia, which interestingly wasn't approved by the FedGov.
  3. ^ It is going to be interesting to see whether all of our TATL flight come back next year or at all. Whilst demand will return after coronavirus, it’s going to be a slow return- i.e. won’t spring back over night- so it’ll be interesting to see whether routes like Barcelona and Rome will return at all. London and the Germany flights will return but I think the others are up in the air. It’s so sad for the industry and for CLT airport
  4. Here’s a thought, you know how CLT just celebrated 700 flights last year and this year was going to be the year of big expansion for AA, well that isn’t going to be happening any more. Who knows how long the fallout from COVID-19/the coronavirus will be, however it will put a massive dent in flights and numbers at CLT and other airports. Such a shame the timing of it all for Charlotte airport, massive systemwide cuts coming to AA to be loaded Sat-Sun evening . EDIT — here’s JonNYC on twitter backing that last sentence up: https://www.twitter.com/xJonNYC/status/1237781186317033472
  5. https://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/business/article241052271.html http://news.aa.com/news/news-details/2020/American-Airlines-Update-on-China-Flights-OPS-DIS/default.aspx#network Rome and Barcelona have both been pushed back to June 4.
  6. https://politi.co/3ag3I0W A very interesting, very in depth read focused on Charlotte. Being Politico it will have a very wide reach!
  7. ^ That would tie in nicely with announcing record passenger numbers, especially if international numbers are up
  8. I don’t how accurate this is (it’s from a forum called airliners.net) but interesting nonetheless:
  9. It’s trippy, messing with my eyes haha amazing though! Over 400?
  10. ^ Did the airport put out an announcement like that the day before like Spirit? I’m hoping for something big but if the airport did that for spirit I’ll be disappointed. Potential: -Alaska to Pacific Northwest (doesn’t seem that big). -BA to Heathrow (although wrong time of year) -Aer Lingus to Dublin (see above for LHR) -AA to South America again (right time for a winter start but weird timing re travel slowdown) -Qatar to Doha (Raja said no to Doha service but maybe he meant just no to AA serving it? Unlikely but I’ll write it down)
  11. Because an increase in capacity would only be temporary and eventually taken away?
  12. According to the FDIC, the largest banks- and this includes investment banks AFAIK- in Florida up to June 2019 are (deposits ($000) and market share): 1. Bank of America: $115,813,293 - 19.19% 2. Wells Fargo: $79,047,506 - 13.10% 3. SunTrust: $48,228,980 - 7.99% 4. Chase: $38,442,747 - 6.37% 5. TIAA: $25,425,423 - 4.21% 6. Raymond James: $22,314,135 - 3.70% 7. BB&T: $18,257,417 - 3.03% So, Truist will be the third largest bank in Florida- like SunTrust- with $66,486,397,000 in deposits and 11.02% market share.
  13. So any announcements this year? December has been very quiet and time is running out for any announcement to be made. Vanguard? Wells?
  14. ? We have service to Barcelona. Tel Aviv and Amsterdam would be great though!
  15. I second this, or Real Charlotte FC. I just do not want it to be another Carolina name tbh, especially if the city puts $100m+.
  16. The plan I heard a while back was to use A a bit like B and have departures to Europe from the A gates and at some point INTL arrivals were planned for A too.
  17. Did CK also develop DEC? DECN renderings were quite stingy too IIRC. The only reason I can think of is that it was mentioned the design wasn't finalised when they announced the building ?
  18. The slot pair was going to be CLT, it was supposed to be the third daily London that I have insinuated to in the past. Though my guess is that they're using the pair for BOS, as there is no space for another A330 in the summer. I hope we see some seasonal service window extensions though. We desperately need more INTL gates and FIS space, when we get those we'll get a third London and more Euro.
  19. I've been thinking about this as an aviation geek and I think this makes S. America routes from CLT again more likely: AA has lost a connecting partner and now can't put people on to LATAM flights so loses out on the connections from the states that LATAM offered, so AA would probably want somewhere to send connecting passengers through: CLT offers this and the fact that it would be cheap considering our cost of operating from our airport. AA will probably beef up Miami flights but I potentially see winter seasonal service from CLT: we have the A330 slack in the winter, the A330s would operate over night leaving them to operate Caribbean flights during the day, we'd be cheap to send connecting passengers through. CLT could offer AA a nice S. American capacity boost during the high season.
  20. Would be nice to see S. America routes from CLT again.
  21. Yes of course but we can’t confirm that/I haven’t seen anything that confirms that.
  22. I can’t find anything to suggest that the city is planning to tear down Hawthorne again, (to me) it appears that it’s just a thought/rumour here on UP. Bridges can last for years, up to 70 years or more, so the city shouldn’t be that incompetent.
