  1. Have seen that, the problem here, this building will not win.
  2. Neat look but terrible location. No car access, no problem, allow cars under it, doink….plus, the column looks spindly too, this may not end well.
  3. Had seen this, look forward to seeing this in 2027, if I’m still alive..other than timing, this is cool and will be great for New Kent and blends well with the adjacent horse racing and gambling right nearby.
  4. Amazing photos @Brent114 thanks for walking tonight. I don’t recognize Manchester anymore, so much happened and in a fairly short period of time. The over hang of the building to the parking area, in the photo below, seems ready to be hit by a moving truck or is this an optical illusion, higher than it looks? Can imagine laying in bed and bang, moving trucks here.
  5. Cheers man, enjoying my Friday brew! It was a good news day with this development, it’s been awhile and we needed this to keep a pulse.
  6. I love how some comments from the Bizsense article center on removing more land from the city or adding to another “state run” health care. Sorry, but good health care is essential and good for all, plus, teaching new health care professionals is critical and level 1 trauma. I couldn’t imagine RVA without VCU, it wouldn’t be the same and would be almost nothing without it. You think RVA is behind now with its potential, imagine no VCU, now that would be a city in need of life support.
  7. It seems a tourist place would be better situated. There’s a steady flow of first timers, new guests. The one here seems like it will have to rely more on returning over and over. How many locals will go more than once? Though I say this and people go over and over to Kings Dominion or Busch Gardens, will this be on par with those types of entertainment?
  8. A beach location seems more of a natural fit for this type of thing. I guess if people want to go to these, not having to drive the 2 hours is a plus. I’m also assuming both locations can support it?
  9. And Manchester isn’t even shown here, amazing how filled in the city is now, very good looking.
  10. One of the better city views I’ve seen in awhile. (or should it be “a while”?) This is from creativedogmedia found on Reddit.
  11. That’s great news. When we travelled more, visiting National parks, Vegas was the cheap option for flights and then we’d start our park tour from there. Hope we take advantage of this!
  12. The conference is down this year, probably only 5 - 6 good teams. Then, as mentioned, no teams did well early in the season, no Q1 wins or very few, and with that, you get the potential for a one and done for the A10. My hope is Dayton still gets in some how and not a one bid league. It’s also in part due to the NIL, where schools with big donors can buy players, basically paid to do things like ads, benefits, etc. Big schools have $ and pay players to be there, it’s also the transfer portal, players leave a university. Schools aren’t building a team for 4 years anymore, it’s for 1 season now.
  13. Really dislike the the NET rankings. It’s stacked to benefit the P5. There’s no way this team should have had the pressure to win to get in. The big conferences are ranked early, before anything is determined, won’t play teams like VCU, then in league play, they just play each other, many are seeded, so a win gets the Q1 win etc. and with that they qualify. It’s maybe 1 chance to get a Q1 victory for teams like VCU, it’s such a bad system for non P5 schools, hope it gets fixed somehow. I’m happy to see them get in, feels like the old CAA days, win to get in.
  14. This team is scrappy, really love their fight. It looked bad when Dayton went up 11 early in the second, VCU said no. They then went on to outwork them from that point and won it going away. A10 championship stays in RVA, last year spiders, this year the Rams, now go make some noise!
  15. I’d like to believe the conditions won’t change and RVA remains favorable and the desire would still be there for people wanting to live here and companies wanting to move here and the march of progress continues. The locations you mentioned may rebound faster due to size, but feel good about Richmond, we just have to get past this, at least that’s my guess and hope.
  16. Another item I’ve noticed, and someone correct me if I’ve overlooked anything, so far this year I haven’t seen any significant developments announced, at least not sizable projects. We’re still watching the same projects that were announced months, year(s) ago. Without new projects, that will affect the next phase and would mean a gap between the end of what’s out there now and any new start up. Like all of you, I eagerly look every day for the next announcement, one to give me a sign, but so far, I’m still waiting for that sign and fear there will be a gap and slow down. The economy is strange right now, high inflation, raising interest rates, and the economy seems to still be going, as if not phased, though there are few drop offs here of late. (Amazon phase 2 on hold, the ones mentioned here, etc.) The FED is trying to slow it down by raising interest rates, but it’s not happening, though may be now, I believe until we stop buying, which is intended to lower prices, we’re in for a ride, hopefully it’s not too bumpy.

    Retail in Richmond

Surprised it’s being announced already for a 2027 opening, that’s pretty far into the future. Sounds interesting for sure, would these be anything like the travel stops on the PA turnpike, or there’s something like this in Breezwood, PA, a big draw as you went thru there, at least it was when I was younger and went that way often.
  18. There’s really no similar time to compare, not even close. I moved here in the early 80’s and there’s nothing like the surge over the last five years or so. I keep expecting it to go back to the familiar, which was one, maybe two visible projects per year. There were many years with nothing of note. I guess it was just a matter of time and it finally had to happen. Up until the current growth, I mostly experienced Richmond shrinking, like Thalhimer’s closing, Miller & Rhoades closing, sixth street market place demolished Grace street demise and so on. It’s nice to have that in the rear view mirror and let’s never go back there.

Go Rams. UR looks ready to play, VCU nervous looking and missing some bunnies, great start so far to this one
  20. It was perfect and now when we hear it, we smile and remember our little buddy.
  21. I didn’t know that about Rocket Man, I did have the albums, almost all his work, but for whatever reason gravitated toward the popular hits. Sad but related to Rocket Man, when we had to put one of our cats down, as we held him for the last time, Rocket Man was playing on the vet’s music and every time I hear it now I’m saddened and remember that day. It seemed perfect to symbolize his passing over to the rainbow bridge.
  22. I had the albums you mention but wore the grooves off of Goodby Yellow Brick Road.
  23. Maybe some eccentric will buy it and turn it into a vertical residence with a great penthouse view.
