  1. What do you think - Amazon HQ2 in Arlington? Not sure how I feel about this yet, it may be one of those that's best experienced in person, drawings, pictures don't capture it, like sculpture or art. https://www.smartcitiesworld.net/news/news/amazon-reveals-nature-infused-hq2-in-arlington-6073
  2. I had seen taller as well but that seems to be replaced now with something like 6 stories. There are some shape diagrams in the RFP along with programming that show it at the 6 floors, those shape diagrams look like what's in the image from the link thru the VCU website.
  3. Noticed this when researching a project to bid, the location of the request is on a site that covers all phases of the construction process, from budgets, out for construction to be built and everything in between. When poking around, there's an RFP out for A&E services of the VCU art and innovation academic building. Seems to be looking for an architect to implement the design of the building that is by pelli clarke pelli architects that's the building opposite the ICA at Broad & Belvidere. No timeline given on construction, not a lot of details on the building either, but it's active and looks to want to contract a firm by 2nd qtr. 2021. Using a guess time line, probably still another year+ past that before anything to get it together, hopeful it can be sooner. https://masterplan.vcu.edu/implementation/planning-phase-projects/arts-and-innovation-academic-building/ https://pcparch.com/
  4. You may be onto something here, this is from an architecture firm in VT, used to know some people there, and a blog from an architect that talks about this exact concept. https://truexcullins.com/2021/01/21/back-to-work-in-2021/
  5. It's been awhile since I've posted, Costar project got me motivated. Like eandslee said above, the buying of the adjacent building tells a story, not just that they bought it but that they're going to connect to it. That says a couple things, it won't be far away and it will probably take architectural elements of its conjoined attachment. My guess is that the automobile turnaround, shown in the image below, will be the approximate base of the new building, a mid rise, taller and less wide than the existing and with a similar "swoop" top, matching glass lines and colors. It's fun to guess, I think the proximity of the new is close to where I'm guessing, with a bridge, you can't go too far away and there's not many other locations, the rest is a guess. We've got a year, good grief, to wait...but if they already know a bridge, perhaps they're already drawing it and the design is already moving along? They showed us drawings when it was part of the navy hill project, maybe it'll be sooner! How long does it take to show a rectangle with a swoop, a bridge and the existing?
  6. I know, really looks good, the density is something I hadn't seen from this angle, and the one from Reddit, if you can zoom in to just the edges of downtown, the river in the foreground vanishing into the city, really nice. Looks like one that could be a framed picture.
  7. I thought these were particularly nice and should share , they're from the RTD labeled as recent aerial views, linked that below along with an RVA Reddit view that was posted. https://richmond.com/news/local/photos-recent-aerial-views-of-richmond/collection_101ad736-2bdc-5f22-adf2-edcbf91b04f2.html This one is from RVA Reddit, also nice.
  8. I implied that in my attempt at satire, if there were no neighborhood objections, apologies. I'll copy paste that on the next one, thinking it will apply eventually.
  9. How to be more Richmond. 1. Make'm take a floor off. Yeah, that'll do it, there, 12 less people, now were good, more parking nearby, disaster averted. or 2. The view, I can't see the "add whatever here", it must be lowered.
  10. There are about 8 images on the Richmond City Watch facebook page from September for a few updates on several projects. https://www.facebook.com/richmondcitywatch/
  11. Here's a photo from Style and the article link written by Ed Slipek. I want to like it, the balance of the top box makes me nervous looking at it. When looking at this one - saying to myself - that's just going to fall off - I know it's not - but that's just going to fall off. https://www.styleweekly.com/richmond/rebuilding-blocks/Content?oid=16632912
  12. An ex-coworker friend I know, who worked for VCU on the development side, probably 10 years ago now, said to me just recently, yes, VCU has plenty of money to build and to grow, but the real money to build and to grow, "real deep pockets", is VCUHealth. I look forward to watching this all play out!
  13. I don't know right off, liking the density of this area though.
  14. I'm not sure, you're close though I believe. I did some quick digging into older images of the building, found this one. Now I see why it may be fitting in, other than the use of classical proportions to compliment the capital, it also looks like part of the old structure. The windows, which are squares and long rectangles stacking has a similar composition to this photo.
  15. They'll have a nice view, wish it was already a project and not waiting to be sold and then become a project, we hope.
  16. You know how some buildings take awhile to settle in and to get used to them, this one already seems like it's been there, not a negative, just seems like it's going to fit in nicely and not be that new building.
  17. totally agree. forgot about this area. amazing, how many "small towns" are being built in what seems like all corners of the counties and city.
  18. Looked outside and saw this, 2020 is wild.
  19. VCU Outpatient Hospital from Hourigan's Facebook page, their view of the take down.
  20. Looked around some but don't see where this has been discussed, but perhaps missed it some how, if it's a duplicate I'll delete. https://www.lumpkinsjail.org/
