  1. It's only getting worse, as a frequent driver from Cookeville to Lebanon and back, the roads have also deteriorated badly from Smith County east. TDOT has paved in spots near the Gordonsville exit, 258, over the last few weeks, but it's still rough in many places. TDOT recently studied adding a truck lane up Buffalo Valley from 268 to 273 MM, while also studying adding a truck lane up the mountain from Cookeville to Monterey. Also considered is a third lane through Cookeville, but who knows when any of this or even if it will come to pass. 40 East from Lebanon on isn't Nashville congestion, but it is definitely more thick than a decade ago with more and more traffic incidents...seemingly weekly now....sometimes daily.
  2. Will be interesting as the the Wilson County Fair is held in August (I think) for ten days; whereas, the State Fair is held in September for two weeks.
  3. Football Operations CenterThis facility will house team-specific needs, such as meeting rooms, offices, training room, expanded locker room and more. Some talk has been that this facility will be connected to the North End Zone due to space limitations on campus with the dual benefit of direct access to Dudley Field. Talk as well that Memorial Gym will get air conditioning.
  4. I haven't seen this previously mentioned: the State Fair is more than likely moving to Wilson County; anyone else seen/heard this bit of news? The governor's FY 21-22 proposed budget includes $5.3 million to move the state fair to Lebanon. I was told there is some bickering about what to call the proposed event...the folks in Wilson County want it called the "Tennessee State Fair at Wilson County Fairgrounds," or some iteration with Wilson County in the name.
  5. Not a Vanderbilt fan here, but I'm sure this is what they can do now for next season. They are still lacking $100M in fundraising toward their goal, BUT, if this is all they do for Dudley and the Vandy fan....sad.
  6. I think I read somewhere that GA Tech designed 440 or had input into its design; although, I'm not sure that is accurate.. BUT, it makes sense...RAMBLIN' WRECK!!! It can get quite congested...any and everyday.
  7. As part of the expansion, but apparently not until.
  8. Excluding their stadium formerly known as US Bank Arena. I do miss going to GAB.
  9. I'll add another picture: pork roll with egg and cheese on toasted plain bagel. Good stuff.
  10. Tech's new engineering building remained THEC's top priority for Capital Outlay in the Governor's proposed FY2021-22 budget.
  11. Our Monday evening flight back to BNA was cancelled; I'm done with flying in February. Strand me once, shame on you....strand me twice...shame on me. Lesson learned...finally.
  12. No need to get Metro involved...I can't believe some Honky Tonk hasn't come up with this yet. At the Truck Yard in Houston, $10 gets you a ride on the Ferris wheel and an LIT! Maybe the fine folks at 6th and Peabody can install one of these in short order.
  13. Where the penny slots and clouds of cigarette smoke reside.
  14. Due to the current health environment, no. We've flown out and back a couple times last month and late last year; it takes no time to get through to the concourse. We're heading out again shortly and anticipate similarly low congestion. You will notice construction, but it really isn't a factor as an airport visitor. BNA is doing a great job keeping construction from affecting the flyer. It is relatively less busy than normal times, but not a ghost town; you will notice this for sure.
  15. A Loves truck stop with Hardees, Petros and Godfather's Pizza just opened at the Couchville Pike exit (67 in Wilson County). Also, again in Wilson County, the huge Rooms To Go Warehouse with retail outlet is accessible from Exit 67. Makes sense, as Kroger is there...just down from the exit at Veterans and 96. I've been wondering what that building is set to become; Jefferson Pike at four lanes....wow! Thanks.
  16. We flew out and back over the long weekend; both flights were short only a couple of empty seats from being full. There did appear to be more traffic this past weekend than back in November, the last time we flew out. I believe both our November and January flights were contracted to merge with other flights to increase passenger load.
  17. I could only speculate as to why the NFL requires a "climate-controlled domed stadium" for locations where the average temperature falls below 50° for its Super Bowls.
  18. IMO no. New York/NJ was given an exemption for temperature requirements because of the brand new, shiny METLIFE Stadium along with two NFL teams hosting and the fact that the NFL has its headquarters in NYC. Applying shade to a below average stadium like our beloved Nissan Stadium won't bring the Super Bowl here in the month of February. Also, back to my original argument, three major sporting events could take place if Nashville had an enclosed NFL stadium: NCAA Final Four, NCAA Football Playoffs and a Super Bowl.
  19. "not in Nashville anyway"......You can't host a Final Four basketball tournament in an open air stadium, and as attractive as Nashville may be as a host city, the weather in January and February will not allow for an NCAA football playoff or Super Bowl even with covered seating. Obviously, Miami can get away with only covered seating versus a dome for those games as it doesn't have the threat of snow but much more so the likelihood of freezing temperatures. Of course the Titans aren't going to completely cover the stadium; my original post stated it's short-sided not to enclose the stadium for those reasons above.
  20. Are you a Packers fan? As a Titans fan after last night, plus a previously horrendous drubbing in those elements, I disagree (kidding). A retractable roof allows for weather in the elements...can't have a Super Bowl or Final Four of any nature without a roof....not in Nashville anyway.
  21. From what I've seen, Alabama's mask mandate works better than no mask mandate.
  22. Hear! Hear! At least it appears that those hokey structures at the north and south end zone concourses would seemingly be at their end.
  23. An elicit approval allowing them in the neighborhood isn't worth a piece of ownership. They don't play them anywhere else than other domed football stadiums. Final Fours now means NCAA Football playoffs as well as basketball.
