  1. Spending a few days in Raleigh, in the Boylan Heights neighborhood, which reminds me of East. On Thursday I rode 45 miles around town on their superb greenway system, although there were a few long detours through monotonous residential tracts. What strikes me about this metro is the vast tree canopy, mainly oaks and pines. The city doesn’t have nearly the litter that Nashville has. I also visited the NC Museum of Art, which has a Dutch exhibition. I drove to Durham and Chapel Hill respectively to check out Duke and UNC. Duke makes it impossible to park- all restricted. I did manage a quick shot of the iconic chapel. Chapel Hill, on the other hand, was easy to find parking. There’s only one crane in downtown Raleigh.
  2. Just wish they would have added protected bike lanes in each direction
  3. I and an East friend dropped by for wine and appetizers last night and the owner and grand sommelier, Alex Burch, gave us a tour of his amazing wine cellar. The place is stunning inside and the food is delicious.
  4. SLC’s CSA in 2023 is 2.7 million. It looks like Orange County in many ways along the major freeways.
  5. Start of the Oktoberfest 5k yesterday morning in Bicentennial Mall. Nice view looking north of the Elliott Row row houses on Madison Street in photo 3.
  6. Spooky railroad spur off Sadler Avenue in Woodycrest last night.
  7. I’d love to see an alternative to BA. I’ve flown Condor business class from SEA to FRA and MUN several times. They’re great, and they award Alaska miles. I hate that BA charges almost $200 to choose a seat in business class!
  8. I couldn’t find There is currently no non-stop to Montreal as of this morning. I’ve been looking.
  9. Wow! That would be great. I’m not a big fan of BA, even in business class, and I hate transferring through LHR.
  10. isn’t NBA viewership declining? I never hear anyone talking about the NBA anymore.
  11. And perhaps Metro will clean up the mounds of trash along Spring to Main Street.
