  1. My Airbnb was just below that miradouro! Are you headed to Porto? If you have time, also visit Braga, north of Porto. That’s where I’d love to move.
  2. I believe so. We toured the site as part of an Historic Germantown Association group and I recall there will also be at least ten restaurants, some located inside the old plant with a very cool industrial chic aesthetic. With Moderna Germantown straddling it, I wonder if the Delek USA tank farm will eventually go away? I can’t imagine living in Moderna and looking at a massive oil facility.
  3. A few weeks ago. New signage on the Bearded Iris building. View south from the Magdeburg Greenway.
  4. Progress on Grand Oaks in Metrocenter. From the Cumberland River Greenway. Alta Riverwalk from the greenway. All 4 buildings rough-finished. Pool area and amenities area completed and asphalt paving in progress.
  5. It looks like they’ll be doubling the width of Monroe between 2nd Ave North and the Neuhoff project. I expect that Monroe between 3rd and 2nd will also be repaved after the street closure for the construction of Artists Lofts is lifted. The old Southern Broom and Mop factory at the NE corner of 3rd Ave N and Monroe St has now been through three restaurant iterations, most recently Saint Stephen. It’s now closed. It seems like a cursed location, although the cannabis-centric Buds & Brews across the street seems to be thriving.
  6. Artists Lofts Germantown up to second level of underground garage. Looking SE from the storage building on Monroe Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues North. Much needed traffic lights added at intersection of 3rd Ave N and Monroe Street. I like the move to the West Coast-style black signal stacks, which offer greater visibility than the yellow ones.
  7. Views of Lisbon and Porto from a recent trip. I was impressed by the size of the Lisbon metro area (2.4 million) and the number of high rise condos and apartments, mainly under 20 stories. Lisbon views from my Airbnb. The Golden Gate-looking bridge was built in the 60’s and is named after the 1974 revolution that overthrew the dictatorship. Views of Porto. Metro area 1.8 million.
  8. Recent progress on Modera Germantown, taken from Adams St. looking northeast. Panoramic view of the river and the storage tanks at the oil company.
  9. I think that's the place; though it's 4th and Madison not 3rd and Madison, right? The open house at Wilder was fun. Josh and Ivy are a cool couple and they've got a mix of international and local craftspeople's products in their store.
  10. I met Ivy from Wilder this morning on a post-brunch walk and she invited us to their grand opening tonight from 4-8. They're doing a soft opening next weekend. http://www.bizjournals.com/nashville/blog/2014/11/new-retail-store-slated-to-open-in-germantown.html Earlier this week I spoke with the site manager of the square and he told me that a burger place was going in on the ground floor of The Square on the NE corner of 4th and Madison. He also told me that a grocery store was slated for the vacant lot on the SW corner of 4th and Madison. Has anyone else heard this? I don't think there's enough space for a Publix in that space. Oh, the same supervisor told me that the owners of the brick bungalow and adjacent lot on the NW corner of 4th and Madison had recently been offered $1.2 million for the lot and they turned it down, waiting for a better offer. 4th Street N is going to be a hopping place a year from now.
