A shot of downtown Bellevue WA from the 405 northbound this afternoon. The tallest building is Amazon. -

Walking home from a stunning Mozart’s Requiem at the Schermerhorn last night. Had a pre-dawn Uber to BNA for a flight to SEA this morning! -

Traffic backed up west of Briley Pkwy an hour ago to access BNA. Must’ve been a two-mile back-up. I’ll bet a ton of tourists in ride shares or rental cars wish they could have zipped to the airport from downtown by fast rail!

Also, a high crime rate. But the Bucks, Montgomery and Chester County suburbs are lovely. -
I’ve given up hope that we’ll ever get light rail in my lifetime. Given the animosity of the state and the absurd costs, we’ll be condemned to increasingly enervating traffic. It’s not really a first-class airport without a rail link.

I could hear it in Germantown but I run a fan on high as white noise so we didn’t hear it!

Out and back next week. Out to SEA on 2 June

Unfortunately the problem with buses is that they’re perceived by visitors as downscale and perhaps intimidating, although I used the airport Sound Transit express bus from downtown to SEA all the time when I worked downtown. Metro will have to devise innovative signage and marketing to encourage use, especially given the several hundred million dollars price tag.

I tend to agree. Was invited to dinner at Kayne Prime on Saturday night by out-of-town visitors and the food was mediocre and the initial service was awful, although the second server was delightful. One could get a week’s worth of sodium in one sitting. I much prefer other interesting places like Folk, Lockeland Table, Lou and City House.- 325 replies

Why oh why didn’t they build a light rail route from BNA as part of the airport remodel? If they’d started during the pandemic, it would be finished by now. The metro of lost opportunities!

Leaving Seattle Saturday morning. Downtown is a bit hard to see, but the Cascades were clear as a bell.
