FWIW, I noticed workers replacing some of the chain-link fencing on the 17th Ave. side yesterday.

Proposed would be a more accurate word than planned.

Not to defend Palmer, but how long has it been, has there been any situation where the current fencing, spraying, etc., has posed a harm to anyone? [There are no neighborhood kids.] Apparently there are no code violations, either building or health, at the site. Metro permitted the excavation twice without imposing any completion requirements. We're stuck with that. The simple truth is that there is nothing that can be done by litigation, legislation, or otherwise to make the hole go away. The only relief will come from development. All other talk is barbershop pontificating.

Not a good sign. Embry probably is the wrong developer - suburban mentality, etc. But, whomever is the developer, why are we still debating who gets the conference rooms? Seems to me that this whole shebang has been half-assed from the start with headlines substituting for plans and details. I'm not optimistic.

First Horizon Park - Home of the Nashville Sounds
captainwjm replied to RemarkableHomes's topic in Nashville
At the time those buildings were built, parking wasn't a concern. The land north of the railroad was vacant or otherwise cheap. Then, with the development of the Bicentennial Park and Farmer's Market the current parking scheme was devised to accommodate those facilities. So, until the stadium deal, there was no need to do anything further for state employee parking. That being said, the state has provided free transit of the MTA and RTA - a much better solution to building either a garage or surface lots. -
I'm not so sanguine. What may appear to be a necessity here sure would look like pork in most other districts. And, given Obama derangement syndrome, I'd be very surprised is we didn't hear some from Congress declare the budget "Dead on Arrival." We're still a very long way from that first shovel-full of dirt.

I walk daily from midtown to the capitol. I go across on 19th to Church, then into downtown. Takes about 40 minutes.

Devil's in the details, but from the reports it appears to be a one-sided "compromise" with Erica and residents doing it all.

This is a significant fact which moves this project back into the wishful thinking stage.
