  1. Noticed this afternoon boring equipment in the lot across Church from NES. Any word on what's going on there?
  2. Vanderbilt has the lion's share, but the Cathedral has the large lot on 20th.
  3. http://nashvillepost.com/news/2014/6/6/cook_out_to_take_midtown_space Former Arby's next to Palmer Plaza; this chain has the best milkshakes anywhere.
  4. Parking lot closed; barriers blocking 1 lane of 20th; looks like it's beginning to start.
  5. Given current events and attitudes, this type of hyperbole should not be used in this, or any other forum.
  6. I walk from Midtown to downtown [capitol area] every day [except when it rains, I'm not that stupid; then it's the #7] to work and back. It takes about 40 minutes. Crossing the interstate at Church [NES] is much safer.
  7. Thanks. And, you're correct that Midtown and the Row will be quite the hive of activity if all of these projects begin. When we had a presentation by the Lenar folks, the concern was traffic, traffic, traffic. I hope that Metro has reviewed the traffic studies in the aggregate, and not as stand alone projects.
  8. While the 2 Rivers property is not worthy of preservation, the Diocese Center may well be. I hope that the discussion of whether it should be begins now, not after it's bulldozed. Interesting footnote, the 2 Rivers site was originally owned by the Diocese as a potential high school site, but was sold in the 70's due to the then declining enrollment in Catholic schools.
  9. Perhaps. They tell me that they expect that the parking will remain available during the demolition.
  10. The fencing has been there for several months - at least around the former Nick and Rudy's, and Wendy's. Still no fencing around the parking lot for South Street/Giovanni's/Bound'ry. As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, they have been told that they will be given 60 days notice before they loose their parking lot, and thus far, no notice has been given. FWIW, my contact with the developer hasn't returned recent emails.
  11. For those of you who may have missed it, a portion of this development, referred to as the HCA lot, has been striped for temporary state employee parking for the duration of CMA Week [it'll always be Fan Fair to me]. Since construction started on the new ballpark, which closed 4 lots used for state employee parking, the lots at the football field have served. They are now being used for fan Fair parking. So, this temporary arrangement.
  12. Whether it's built or not, let's hope the Meyers Flooring building is demolished!
  13. THE utility work is at the corner of Broadway, Division @20th. The drawing shown are further southwest at 21st and Broadway. They are part of the traffic study for Buckingham.
  14. Are you sure the utility work is connected to the Buckingham project? There has been a leaking water main there for some time,
  15. Low cost locations, either Nashville or Mumbai- have we really slipped that low?
  16. I'm always impressed by the view coming down I-24-65 from the north. It encompasses all of downtown and midtown, with the backdrop of the Overton hills. Especially nice during the late afternoon's "golden hour".
  17. What I've heard is that is will be converted to [yet another] bar. Apparently the operator will be the same management as neighboring Winner's and Loser's.
  18. Interesting. A couple of months ago, the auto interior shop behind the BP [i still call it the West End Gulf] closed and Premier started managing the parking around the building. That leaves only Randy's Midtown Grill on that side of the alley on 19th. The Arby's has parking across the alley next to the Palmer Plaza Garage extending to Broadway. So that only leaves the law firm [the new Premier pay lot is in between] and the building housing Gigi's Cupcakes and Hattie B's Chicken [excellent, you need to try it!] on that end of the block. As mentioned, a prime location.
