  1. They're one and the same! They've been open with a very limited menu for a couple of recent Milk District events (Milk Mart yesterday and Krampusfest a couple weeks ago) and I've enjoyed everything there so far. Looking forward to dinner soon.
  2. It's not -- its what allows me to go to other museums in other cities for free. It's really a smaller budget institution trying to hit above its weight. They had to cancel a large exhibition of Spanish art a few years ago, with works by Goya and El Greco - valued at $1 billion - because they couldn't afford to underwrite the insurance needed to present the show. It takes a lot of money and visitation to keep a museum going, and they struggle with that. Just the maintenance of the aging facilities and collection are expensive, and get due priority over bigger shows.
  3. OMA is member of SERM, NARM and ROAM reciprocal agreements, allowing members access to over a thousand other institutions. That's why I keep my membership.
  4. The development is supposed to sit on 50 acres just north of the Orlando World Center Marriott.

    Mills/50

I went in on Friday. Very much not closed.
  6. Are you plugged into IVMS yet? Let Allex know if you're having permit problems and she can help get logjams un-stuck. If she has questions, have her text me.
  7. That's how it's used, but traffic heading east on Colonial is supposed to exit on Amelia, giving them a couple of blocks to get into the proper lanes.
  8. Here's a link to the reports. https://www.orangecountyfl.net/TrafficTransportation/TransportationInitiative/InitiativeReport.aspx#.YxdhaHbMLMY
  9. I've been on an AA flight that would deplane from front and rear at LGA. Rear was direct to the ground, and you basically walked through a door from the tarmac directly to bag claim, but you had to use the jetway if you needed to connect to another flight. It was novel, but worked. Not sure if there would be any real advantage with the layout at MCO, except to improve efficiency for the airline.
  10. Lymmo busses have an end of line layover in front of Union West in Creative Village. I wonder if they couldn't outfit the busses/street with inductive chargers to top them up for 15-20 minutes at a time.
  11. This is on the parking lot to the East of the dealership building, so that building and its parking lot can be redeveloped separately -- still quite a nice size for a big complex.
  12. A developer has proposed a multi-use apartment/hotel/retail development with drive-thru at the corner of Colonial and Westmoreland. The development will include a six-story building containing 2,360 SF of restaurant/retail uses, 36 hotel units and 79 apartment units. The current property zoning is MU-1/T/PH which allows for a building height of 35 feet with an allowance to propose up to 75 feet with a Conditional Use permit. The building is proposed at 83’4” height due to the small parcel size of 1.33 acres.
  13. Our cost on these including shipping's north of $50, unfortunately. I'll do a $10 promo code - urbanplanet . Pre-order ends on the 21st.
  14. I was there - right on the terraces next to Central Blvd. I've done the fireworks plenty of times, but joined a new-to-Orlando friend from China who hadn't been to ours before and didn't want to go alone. I heard a set of firecrackers go off closer to Publix and thought "that's a stupid idea" then another set a couple minutes later that sounded like it was between Waverly and Capital Plaza 2. It was very loud and reverberated a lot. I was 90% sure it was fireworks, but it didn't sound like everything else. With folks on edge from the Highland Park parade shooting (and the general state of things) they started running toward the lake from Central, jumping off the wall to lower ground. I tried to jump down, and my leg got pinned between the wall and the bench, resulting in a pretty nasty scrape on my thigh. Because it took me a couple of seconds to get down, the wall itself was packed with people hiding, so I ended up looking back up the hill. My friend and I agreed on a meeting place if we got separated, and when I figured it was safe to move, we ended up heading out of the park past Publix. We were probably in the first 5% to leave the terrace area. There were all kinds of camp chairs and personal items left behind, and I tried to throw them into the bushes as I could as we went to hopefully make it safer for those who would be leaving behind us. We passed Publix, where the vestibule was packed, and took Pine around and ended up at a different friend's place at 1 S Eola. We stayed there for 20-30 minutes as I patched up my leg and had some BBQ and a drink before hopping on scooters and making a wide circle east and north of the park back to my friend's apartment at Central Station before I headed home. I'm honestly surprised more people weren't seriously injured in the chaos. Running events myself, we always look to control access with barricade in the name of safety, but if there had been bike rack up, I think it would have been worse as people looked for exits or injured themselves going over the barricade. I was sitting on the wall behind the bench where this person is sitting, and my friend was on the wall where the bike is.
  15. Before the recent light rail expansions, the transit tunnel used to accommodate both electrified busses and trains. I think that's changed due to system changes and more trains. It was kind of cool to get off of a train from the airport and onto the local bus from the same platform.
  16. My guess is that this is related to an SRX, and there will be some outdoor seating to hit those benchmarks.
  17. @spenser1058, any insight on the 1980s work on the building? I believe they added 2 stories and either then - or under Kuhn - converted some of the building to parking. Here are a couple of historic images.
  18. A couple shots from July 4. First during the daytime Roe protest, then across the lake pre-fireworks.
  19. I flew last week and my flight time kept creeping leaving me with a 40 minute connection. I was able to standby an earlier flight -- see if you can do the same?
  20. My understanding is that the WP History Museum's lease at the farmers' market is coming to an end, and that the City asked them to submit a proposal. Does anyone have progress on the Alfond expansion or new Rollins museum? This location begs for a cultural/tourism related draw. It's been a few years since I have been in Winter Park every day. Any word on if the new Rollins garage has made parking at the SunTrust Truist Garage any easier? I wonder if merchants are seeing more visitors who can find parking, or less business lost as Rollins community members aren't crossing Fairbanks as there used to be.
  21. There's a lot of non-OH owned land down there -- Mears, the concrete producers, etc . The SODO NID and some of the improvements they've made, like the trail, have been setting the stage for this type of development. I think this will be the first of a new node of Downtown, like North Quarter has developed over the past 10 years.
  22. Who's doing the leasing? Enough room for a Trader Joe's or Aldi.
