  1. Here's a map of the District boundaries (though some changed a couple years ago and this isn't updated.) https://gis.orlando.gov/PDF_Docs/EconomicDevelopmentMaps/MainStreetProgramAreas.pdf Milk has extended down Robinson to Fern Creek and wrapped the north side of OEA to Calvin. Mills 50 has been around much longer, so those borders were in place long before The Milk District businesses were able to get a program.
  2. According to Bungalower, it'll be a bagel shop. The Milk District and Mills 50 main streets meet at Bumby and 50, so this is Mills 50. https://bungalower.com/2022/04/10/new-bagel-shop-opening-in-former-subway-shop/
  3. From Friday -- I did some cat-sitting for a friend who lives across the street.
  4. Let's get a few folks together and invest a billion dollars.
  5. One solution would be to do local/express routes, where there is a transfer point so the Orlando/Tampa bound trains would only stop at Miami, the northernmost city in South FL, and on to Orlando. It may be a two-seat ride for some, but there would be increased retail opportunities at those transfers and they could justify different service frequencies for the different routes.
  6. There are some gated areas down there. The Preserve at Laureate Park being one. https://www.google.com/maps/@28.3801229,-81.2597515,3a,60y,8.27h,92.91t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sashnGgJzzOgQEu11KeNCdg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192
  7. Some topline information from a recent study... Top Reasons Planners Consider Orlando (over 60% of respondents) Hotel options (variety of rates, quality, etc.) Ease of getting in/out of Orlando Destination appeal to attendees Meeting Venue options (variety, size, uniqueness) came in at 50% and didn't make the list of reasons to exclude Orlando Top reasons Planners Exclude Orlando (over 60% of respondents)| Low destination appeal to client leadership Destination is not walkable Top Reasons Attendees Desire Orlando (over 50% of respondents) Good weather Good entertainment options Good place to extend business trip for leisure Top Reasons Attendees don't Desire Orlando (over 50% of respondents) High travel costs Inadequate COVID safety (cases + protocols) Difficulty of getting in/out of Orlando
  8. The second floor retail use makes sense if they need to maintain access from the office tower to the garages.
  9. It always amazes me how close buildings feel at street level -- like this and the old BOA -- but from afar the gap between them seems huge!
  10. I think they don't care about OIA to Disney. They want to be the best way to get from South Florida to Disney and from Tampa to Disney.
  11. Wish we could take credit for this one! We do work closely with Creative City, and they've brought on a number of new team members recently including one of our steadfast volunteers. It's great to see organizations like this grow, and we love when we can host them in the Milk District!
  12. Pulled into Target yesterday just as the sun was setting, and caught a couple of quick photos of a Sunrail train, and some of the OH campus with downtown beyond. Is this Society peeking up, or something closer?
  13. A few photos from this afternoon as Modera and Luminary Green progress. I didn't realize that the road behind Modera had been shifted over to the legacy Centroplex garage. Too bad they didn't put the garage entrance in this back alleyway. Sorry for the crooked pics -- I was balancing on a scooter.
  14. I was sitting in this MPB meeting and just wanted to yell "WHYYYY?!?!"
  15. Heading south on I-4 yesterday. Society in the background.
  16. It's been probably a year, but I heard they were looking at one of the warehouses along Alden.
  17. A look up I-4 from Amway Center, including several recently completed projects and construction at Society and AdventHealth.
  18. Latest is a $10 Million gift from Ginsburg, along with an project budget increased to $40 Million due to cost increases. https://www.orlandosentinel.com/health/os-ne-ginsburg-family-foundation-gives-40million-nemours-holocaust-center-ucf-20220302-2zf5dvdmefanbfkivxoql34ra4-story.html
  19. The plan is to incorporate the building into the new museum. You'll see it on the right side of this rendering.
  20. A few townhomes. There has been some activity on those permits but the developer isn't answering their phone, and the voicemail is full.
  21. With the construction getting moving on the 50/Fern Creek apartments, let's look at the corridor further out. Study for 700+ Units at Colonial Plaza (there has been discussion of additional residential on the site as well, so keep your eyes open. https://bungalower.com/2022/02/20/ask-bungalower-is-it-true-theyre-going-to-knock-down-colonial-plaza-for-new-apartments/ 1400 units at Fashion Square - https://bungalower.com/2021/11/16/preliminary-plans-submitted-for-fashion-square-mall/ 8-story tower at Colonial and Bennett (north of the intersection, with Colonial Dr. access, and possible second development adjacent the site to the North. - https://www.growthspotter.com/news/residential-property-developments/multi-family/gs-news-mill-creek-bennett-20220113-ejuwfhpgrfhuxdcrqx6ojwz6um-story.html
