  1. Well the other factor would be if the airline thinks there is enough demand to warrant service, the next question would be is it enough to pull from another route? Planes and pilots are still at a premium, so remember, not only does it have to be profitable, it has to be more profitable than the service they would end or cut down on to start it! Also remember start up costs for a new airport, equipment, and ground handling staff if was a new airline like jetblue. That would be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars so there are a lot of factors to go into it!
  2. I always hear great things about landing BOS. Problem is I've been hearing it for 20 years. I take the I'll believe it when I see it when it comes to BOS and/or Jetblue.
  3. With Silver recently starting GSO-BNA service, I'm eyeing that for GSP. You know Silver isn't content with 1 flight at BNA and GSP kills for that BNA service. Something to watch.
  4. Personally I wonder if the reason sales are lower than expected is because too much of the food offering is sit down. I know alot of people usually try to get through security about an hour prior to their flight. I'm the same way. Usually I'm too uneasy about sitting down to order b/c I'm not sure how long it will take. I'd much rather just grab a quick bite and take it to the gate. Unfortunately Chick-fil-a and Dunkin are your only 2 options for that. I do think a sub shop would do great, but what do I know?
  5. Probably not for a while. Sales at the other restaurants are not where GSP wants them to be to warrant another restaurant at this time.
  6. I wouldn't pin the ILG thing on GSP. More of an Avelo/ILG thing. GSP, RDU, SAV, and CHS were all designated as seasonal routes for ILG. They all end service at the end of October. None of them came back for the schedule extension through April.
  7. Avelo has extended their schedule to the end of April. MCO comes back in Feb. ILG does not. HVN still there as well.
  8. Lol it's not a competition to post information. This is a forum for discussion with others. Sometimes forums have people like you who whine, complain, act like they know about the industry on the whys and hows, and post others info to act like they are a know it all. These kind of posters make others, like myself, not to want to join in the discussion much anymore and the discussion starts to go silent and slowly dies. Have you noticed a theme on this thread?
  9. You could at least quote your reference instead of passing it off as your own. https://gspairport.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/GSP-Commission-Package-September-2023-FINAL.pdf
  10. AEW did 4524. That's actually a decent number for that show which is in its infancy. https://wrestlingheadlines.com/list-of-attendance-figures-for-this-weeks-wwe-and-aew-tv-events-69/
  11. United and American will both be running nonstops to GSP and back from South Bend Nov 3rd and 5th for the Notre Dame vs Clemson game. United is also upguaging a couple Express flights to Mainline those same days.
  12. Any updates on what they will be doing here and when? https://greenvillejournal.com/community/city-of-greer-purchases-over-72-acres-for-around-2-4m/
  13. Well duh. We were talking from GSP. If you meant going through IAD as a 2nd stop you would've mentioned the 1st stop too. At that point though you'd need a 3rd stop to get to MEM from GSP via IAD bc United also doesn't fly nonstop to MEM from IAD either.
  14. United does't fly to Dulles and you'd actually go through Houston or Chicago. As for longer trips, don't forget connection times. Depending on the schedules, sometimes taking a little bit longer of a flight to one place might get you to your destination a little quicker!
  15. Here is the link to GSP parking. Gives you rates, real time status of lot availability, and allows you to make reservations if you prefer. https://gspairport.com/parking/ You don't have to call anyone for Southwest, but your boarding number goes by check-in time unless you want to purchase expedited boarding. They still do have you line up by numbers to board.
  16. No, that's where seasonality comes in. Don't compare AA to Avelo lol. That's 15 planes compared to 1400. You put your planes where you make your money. You'd be foolish to send planes there and not take advantage of your Florida cities. Then as the Florida seasonal ends you go back to those other routes. Just like they went away from MCO in Sept and Oct, but came back for Florida season in November. These planes don't connect. You can't funnel people in a hub and spoke system like the legacy carriers. This is a completely different business model.
  17. So you equate an airline with only 15 planes not selling flights in the dead winter to 2 cities in the Northeast and utilizing the planes in better spots to failure and closure of a station?
  18. Avelo loads have been very strong the first couple weeks. Not sure why you think they would be gone other than to troll the airport. MCO disappears in Sept and Oct, but comes right back in Nov. I expect Avelo to grow, not shrink at GSP. They are very high on the airport. Not too many cities with them start with more than 1 destination!
  19. You must not have been paying attention then. This all really started Friday then ramped up on Saturday and has continued on. Just at GSP starting Friday, the ORD flights were delayed earlier on, then the NYC flights all cancelled or delayed. Florida was on a ground stop leading to Avelo's 17 hour delay to MCO. The hits kept rolling. At one point on Saturday, Chicago, San Francisco, Denver, Florida, the DC area, and most of the Northeast were all on ground stops or ground delay programs. It has continued since. As you can see from today, it's not just the northeast! Also, my response was to his post about today's flights. Nothing else. https://thepointsguy.com/news/major-northeast-travel-delays-cancellations/
  20. I wouldn't judge today's loads by any measure. It's been a disaster for travel since Friday. Thousands of delays and cancellations. People haven't been able to get home for days. Any flight that is going anywhere is gonna be full!
  21. That is correct. The United schedule is finalized through the end of September. EWR is 2x mainline daily from Sept 6-16 and 1x daily after that.
  22. When United made the decision to add the Mesa 900s that came from AA, they placed them in IAH and DEN. That coupled with new planes slowly rolling in helps them expand DEN. The objective for United has always been to make DEN their biggest hub. There's been no secret about that. IAD is supposed to grow too. Word has just leaked about IAD renovations and expansion. Also Scott Kirby just mentioned IAD will expand and stated IAD will go to 7 banks of flights over the current 4. The growing of IAD is expected to be a mostly mainline growth though, so it will probably be a little later in the United Next plan as the Mainline planes really start rolling in. My best guess is that will start happening late '24 into 2025.
  23. Qdoba has been closed for quite a while! Dunkin now has a candy shop next store.
  24. IAD will be back at some point, but probably not anytime soon. Not sure about DEN. I know the airport has been trying to convince UA to bring back IAD and add a 2nd DEN. United has said privately they really like the GSP market and want to grow it, but the problem is plane availability. As part of United next, UA will be adding over 500 narrow bodies in the next few years. Unfortunately delays at Boeing and Airbus have slowed that process. I think they also pulled a couple mainline this summer b/c they needed planes for the summer season schedule in places like the Caribbean. It looks like when that ends GSP goes back up to 4. IAD was always about the regional pilot shortage and never about market. Again, as United mainline deliveries grow, I expect IAD to come back. My guess is middle to late 2024. United will continue to grow at GSP. Patience will be the key unfortunately right now. https://www.flightglobal.com/fleets/nearly-500-regional-jets-parked-in-usa-cirium-fleets-data/152859.article
  25. Looks like 6 weekly flights was right. Not sure why they held off on the ILG announcement other than maybe they wanted to make it apart of the ILG expansion announcement! While the September schedule is not finalized, United has tentatively upgauged one of their EWR flights to a mainline a319 starting Sept 5th. Also that same day, IAH is upgauged to a 166 seat B737-800 and the pm ORD mainline that goes away this summer comes back and is also upgauged to a B737-800.
