  1. Uh, did anyone notice my pics of the Peachtree Plaza and the Concourse towers? Personally, I don't think the one of the Concourse is that great, but the one I took of the Peachtree Plaza deserves a reward . Okay, now everyone can go back to awing the other pics. Being a man, I just had to stroke my own ego.
  2. A pic I took of the Concourse towers. A pic I took of the Concourse towers.
  3. I must post my pic of the landmark that helped guide me around Atlanta when I didn't know where I was going.
  4. Me too! I'll always refer to myself as an: Carolina Alumni or USC Alumni or South Carolina Alumni
  5. Of all things, why a JC Penny. I don't really have anything against the store, but Columbia needs some variety. Columbiana is located directly off of I26, I mean the mall is basically on I-26. There is always heavy traffic on this interstate, so why would it be so hard to place an anchor there that Columbia or maybe even SC hasn't seen yet. Also, did anyone check out the amount of traffic at Columbiana this past weekend. The mall was extremely pack. I could not find a park anywhere so I just went back home. Columbiana definitely needs an expansion (a second story could help).
  6. We may not be here to see it, but I still think they will join one day. The development in Sumter is stretching west on US 76. Also the development on Garner's Ferry in Columbia is stretching East. Although there is some wetlands and forests in between, I truly believe that one day there will be contiguous development between Sumter and Columbia. The same will probably be said about Newberry, Kershaw, Orangeburg, etc.
  7. The census is a pretty reliable source, but I still think it's skewed. On the contrary, some people from Sumter go through Camden and then take I-20 to Columbia (particularly those that live in the Rembert and Mayesville areas).
  8. Thanks. With the addition of Orangeburg and Sumter the population should soar to over 1 million
  9. Just out of curiosity, what is considered the metro region of Columbia? Would it be the counties surrounding Columbia (Sumter, Newberry, Lexington, etc.)?
  10. That's very hard to believe. I don't have stats, but I'm a living witness as I am from Sumter. I know too many people that live in Sumter, but work and play in Columbia. Those stats have to be skewed.
  11. OH! and to add to the above: COLUMBIA DOES NOT NEED ANOTHER BELK OR JCPENNY.
  12. I don't know how many Parisian's Atlanta has, but the one in Phipps seems to have the same things as the ones here. Parisian's really doesn't impress me. What Columbia probably needs in Columbia Place is a store that caters to the demographic of that area. Something different like Hecht's or a similar dept. store would be a nice anchor for Columbia Place. It seems that Columbia either doesn't have the demographic or our leaders just do not want upscale stores here. I would like to see upscale chain stores come to Columbia (and eventually they will), but it wouldn't do me any good because I can't afford, nor am I willing to pay $300 for jeans (at least right now )
  13. I'm sorry, but I disagree. I live on Broad River and traffic is terrible from where Broad River intersects with Bush River until where it intersects at St. Andrews.
  14. Sorry I didn't read into the question. It doesn't really matter if the name is changed, but I still think the feel of Main St. with it being two lanes is definitely small townish, but I don't think there is a way they can change this as the buildings are too close too the street. Maybe they should do away with vehicle traffic on the street and change it to a pedestrian only street from Main and Gervais to Main and Blanding (which is the street where Club Rio is, I believe).
  15. It's definitely too small with it being just two lanes.
  16. It's a pretty decent mall, but it needs a complete renovation inside and out.
  17. I personally think the view from Piedmont Park is pretty nice.
  18. Any idea on when these plans become reality and construction begins?
  19. I have an idea, but fill me in? How can I post a pic in my avatar?
  20. Here's one of two buildings off of the 400. I don't know the name of the buildings. Could someone from Atlanta tell me?
  21. I was hoping for a few mid or highrises. I guess my hopes are too high although they would have looked great coming into Columbia off I-126.
  22. I believe it's also the park they have there. I forgot the name of it, but I know they have some sort of rose festival every year and people come from all over to go to it.
