I was down in Savannah for thanksgiving and it is really growing (downtown area) very dense. I think Savannah has so much potential....more than all the other cities in Georgia. Savannah needs one more really really big thing to draw more attention to the city and that big thing would accelerate growth. The historic district is excellent and the movies and books bring attention, but Savannah needs something like that Aquarium that was built in ATL. Being from Savannah, I think the problem with under representation of Savannah is that all cities in Ga. are striving to be like ATL except for SAV and I used to hate that SAV didn't when I stayed there, but now I can appreciate SAV alot more. I think ATL needs to share some of the attention by allowing the other cities in Ga to flourish...Big Projects ( Aquarium, Theme Parks, Teams ) now that I'm in NC I believe they do a good job of spreading things out to all their cities just my opinion though.

I have heard tell that there is a new grocery store on Broughton Street, close to the Jen Library (a block or two to the West). Does anyone know if this is true? I am about to move back to Savannah, with my new wife, after some months studying abroad and I really really hope that there is a new DOWNTOWN grocery store waiting for me.

The pictures are FANTASTIC, by the way, and are making me very excited about my return!

I was there over the weekend and didn't see a grocery store. I think I did see somewhat of a "market" that says "coming soon" on the windows. It's on the far east end of Broughton towards Juarez.

Sorry this is out of topic and I dont want to start a new thread, I am planning to visit Savannah in the near future and would like to know how is the gay life there? Is there any gay club? Gay beach? Or is it always empty?

Is there a boat trip that come from FLorida to Savannah?
