  1. Right, it will not be an outlet, a full line Bloomingdale's in the Macy's location. Keep in mind, this means Charlotte metro will be left with only 2 Macy's stores. This is Belk's town though...
  2. Correct. SouthPark started out as Thalhimer's, and then converted to Hecht's after the buyout of that store. Carolina Place and Northlake both were Hecht's from the start, and then turned over to Macy's. I agree that Macy's SouthPark is subpar, especially when competing with the flagship Belk and a top Dillard's as well. Bloomingdales would fit in much better at SouthPark. Interestingly, Bloomingdales was supposed to be a part of South Tryon St. at one point in time as well but that apparently fell through. A bit ironic, that I asked in 2005 if Charlotte was ready for Bloomie's... http://www.urbanplanet.org/forums/index.php/topic/9425-is-charlotte-ready-for-bloomingdales/
  3. Interesting. Here's the article without the pop-up $ thing http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2013/02/08/v-print/3841791/saga-of-mint-hill-shopping-complex.html
  4. And things get more interesting http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-02-28/publix-super-markets-said-to-be-mulling-a-bid-for-harris-teeter.html
  5. This is all so interesting. I had the opportunity to visit most of the Harris Teeters (sans Asheville) that will be converting to Lowes Foods (Gastonia, Hickory, Shelby, Morganton) and gosh these stores are a time warp compared to Charlotte... you can tell that even though they were in established markets they became an afterthought to Harris Teeter after HT's upscale expansion. On the other hand, all of the Lowes Foods stores which are in Meck/Charlotte (and Fort Mill, Wes. Chapel) are way newer (built within the last decade)... I too am curious since HT has only mentioned that Lowes Foods @ Promenade will not become HT, will they reallin Ahave stores across the street from one another??? I know Kroger's done this in Atlanta with buyouts of HT and A&P ... but still, quite absurd.... Wesley Chapel, Huntersville/Birkdale, to name a few.
  6. None of those are particularly convenient to the PM neighborhood though.. especially for the many who walk/bike there.
  7. I do wonder if this will be anywhere near the scale originally determined. With JCPenney building at Windsor Square, as I perviously said, looks like only Belk and Dillard's will be part of this project. Wonder if a newcomer sporting goods store like Dunham's or Academy would consider opening here?
  8. Sadly I think La Paz has gotten worse at their Met location - both in service and food quality.
  9. Best Buy-Midtown has been spared from the closings. http://money.cnn.com/news/companies/storysupplement/best-buy-store-closings/index.html?iid=EL
  10. I've heard that H&M and Simon don't exactly jive. How many Simon Malls have an H&M?
  11. Then the question should be begged, why hasn't H&M happened yet at Northlake... that vacant Borders
  12. Ok thanks, I could not figure it out from the lease plan. So that means if H&M wants more than 15,000 sq. ft. they'd want the J. Crew space too. Where could J. Crew relocate in SouthPark?
  13. I think the key to this is H&M wants their own exterior entrance ... which they can get with the combined Brooks Brothers & Coldwater Creek space. Both spaces probably equal up to almost 20,000 square feet-- which is the size of the H&M in Raleigh and Winston-Salem.
  14. Hmmm my inclinations lead me to believe a trendy store that is known by its initials.
