Oh yeah, we got glass! well worth the picture of the day gap we've been having lately.

Edit: Lmich, I agree that we should be documenting this construction like we are documention the death of the Statler. If I remember correctly, there are quite a few construction photos in the One Kennedy Square thread. Time to revive it since I image that we'll being seeing a lot of changes in the next months or so.

I remember when people were so set on capturing its progress day by day on the webcam. I knew it'd be a flop!!

Day to day would be overkill. Week to week seems much more reasonable, though. Looks like much of it was already missed since the facade is being hung, though.

They were putting aluminum (or at least it looked like aluminum) up at the very top when I was eating lunch today. It's been topped out for a while now. They just started hanging the facade last week. They haven't gotten very far yet.

Today was the worst day imaginable for photography, but here's what the building looked like as of 11:45 this morning.

I can't get over how they are actually going to add a decorative spire to such a squat building. That's the only thing that seems out of place. Perhaps it should have been a flagpole. lol

  It's been topped out for a while now. 

Isnt it officially topped out when the spire is added?

They already had the topping off ceremony. There is a pine tree on the south side of the building at the very top.

So since they havent added the spire yet they placed a pine tree at one end that goes the height of the spire? That seems strange to me.

No, the evergreen tree is at the other end of the building (Bank One side). When a building is topped out, it is tradition to place an evergreen tree on the last steel beam installed. It's probably about the size of your standard Christmas tree or a little larger.

The Scarab Club was completed in 1928 and was designed by Lancelot Sukert for one of Michigan's oldest art organizations. The sculpture shown here is a later additon that was added to the otherwise blank west facade.
