So, instead of greatly expanding terminal C parking garage to alleviate full garages, they are closing to try to thin it out by pricing some people out. Literally planing a 26% increase in daily fees to 24 bucks a day from 19 dollars. This starts Oct 1st. I am not a fan of this airport board. They are negligent. They screwed up with the cutbacks on terminal C design only to have to pay a lot of money on the back end to fix their mistakes, they froze phase 1a, only to have to circle around and restart it after construction finished on phase 1 raising costs. Now, instead of pulling the trigger on fully building out parking garage C, which will pay for itself via parking fees........ they want to thin it out by making it ungodly expensive.

For comparison, vegas long term garage parking is 16 bucks

Really keeping up with the idea that Orlando nickel and dimes tourists to death.

yeah but long term parking are usually in remote lots; long term parking at OIA is also cheaper than the $24/day, right?  Garage parking is always a premium....

Incorrect. Long term parking in Vegas is in a garage as well and not in a remote lot. Long term parking at OIA in any of the garages is $24. I just think they are looking to squeeze the Orlando community during record profits and travel. What they should simply do is fully build out terminal C garage. It will pay for itself.

well, doesn't McCarron have casino money funding things over there?  they have slots in their terminal(s)... they probably have that as a supplemental income source.  remember all the issues with Maglev and OIA trying to protect from lost revenue from car rentals etc?

that being said, I totally agree that they need to build out that garage.

Continued record growth. Numbers 12 month rolling through July 2023 are 55,066,293 passengers.  Seems like we are adding 400k-500k passengers with each passing month.  With 5 month remaining, I expect us to finish North of 57 million for the year. Unthinkable numbers so soon after Covid.

I must say I was stunned at the progress of the ironwork on that concourse.  It's big.

Also, as for the "hallway" connecting C to the Intermodal Center,, there is work being done.  What I mainly saw, but couldn't snap, was that the pylons which were already there- they added more rebar on top of them.  One of those Brightline review videos that came out over the weekend actually shows it when the author looks through the window that will eventually be removed (the wall) to connect thru that hallway.

Oh, and that parking lot/ surface lot at the Intermodal Center (south side) looks pretty much done.

News article out of WESH stating more airlines are moving to Terminal C. Did not mention any specifics about who will be moving.......

I will tell you this...going onto the airport property from 528, the Terminal A traffic was severely backed up and bottlenecked, whether for Departures/Arrivals; I would say Southwest is a major reason for that... I cannot recall if American is at Airside 1 or 3, though.

That's annoying. although I am led to believe it may be one of the legacy carriers (likely United) with the ambition they had with using Terminal C as a base to add more routes. Jetblue won that battle, but with the new gates under construction they may take up some of that space. I am hoping Turkish or Qatar add a route soon. Turkish Airlines has already mentioned it with no date set. A rumor went around with local airline workers that Qatar for a moment was accepting resumes for airport staff and flight attendants for a potential Orlando route, but it seems it has not gone anywhere.

Well, United would be the only potential option for establishing a hub in Orlando regarding legacy carriers. They have nothing in the Southeast. Closest hubs are DC and Houston.

Delta has Atlanta and AA has Miami.

The beauty with having a legacy hub, you tend to attract routes from alliance partners. United is part of Star Alliance. With that being said, Turkish Airlines has already officially identified Orlando as a route they a pursuing.

Being that the northward concourse was narrowed because of the funding reshuffling curing Covid to where they have to use that non recessed moving sidewalk now, I wonder if they redesigned the southward concourse currently u/c to be it's original width to accommodate a regular moving sidewalk.

Oh, wait, this is Orlando...

Added another 330k passengers rolling 12 months through August. Currently at 55,391,246 passengers. We still have 4 more months left in the year. I am estimating somewhere between 56-57 million will be the eventual total.......which is astounding.

that is astounding.  57M was like DFW's numbers back when Hartsfield was like 72M and O'Hare was like 70M...

Not bad at all for an airport with no central/major airline hub dominating.
