It's a cool idea... but in the span of just a few years food halls have gone from being a novel idea to being all over the place.

Yes, but they are still novel to Winston.  Moreover, it’s a great way to test more daring cuisines in the city that are underrepresented, such as Ethiopian, Laotian, Cambodian, Texas bbq, and Korean.

True that food halls are becoming common now. But yes this does give Winston-Salem a variety of different cuisine options. This is a great way to redevelop that building instead of the typical apartment lofts.

I didn't say it was a bad thing. I just hope a food hall around here would actually make leaps like that. ROAR for instance just introduced their new station... Mexican food. On top of Asian food, seafood, Italian, and American food. That said, ROAR is more an entertainment destination that includes a food hall.

So if the new food hall does bring something novel, that'd be awesome. If it ends up being BBQ, Seafood, Pizza, etc, I'll be underwhelmed.

Thank you for the pictures.  Winston-Salem has the most diverse architecture of any city in the Carolinas, from 18th century to the present, with a multitude of colonial examples (at Old Salem and in the county of Forsyth), vernacular, Greek Revival, turn-of the century, and Art Deco to Post Modern.
