i'm reading that chris webb is looking to sign with the magic or cavs since the pistions have basically tossed him. negotiations are surrounding playing time and a starting position guarantee

He's probably a one or two year quick fix guy at age 34. I don't see the Magic going after him with the youth movement they have going on, even if they did have the money, which I don't think they do.

The Magic could really use a guy like Webber and I think he would be a near-perfect match at the back-up PF position. The problem, though, is that he hasn't even joined the team and is already making demands about playing time. With the Magic at 7-2 and having a lineup and system that works *right now*, Webber needs the Magic more than the Magic need him, even with that gaping hole at the 4 spot. The team's chemistry is too good to be messing with by adding a falling star with a big ego. If he didn't make that comment about wanting to be a starter and would be content with taking Garrity's minutes off the bench (+5 minutes or so), he would be a better fit than just about anybody else out there right now. But in my opinion, the Magic shouldn't mess with the lineup we have now to accomodate Webber's demands and they should only sign him if he agrees that minutes are only given to players who earn them. I mean who is he to say that he deserves to be starting over Hedo, who has been been playing out of his mind lately (about 18/6/4)? Webber is 34 years old, has been sitting on his butt all-offseason, hasn't been through training camp, is injury-prone, would be coming to a new team, averaged 11//7/3 last season, and really doesn't fit into the starting lineup's run-and-gun 3-point shoot-em-up offense. Like I said, he'd be great coming off the bench but he's not worth changing the starting lineup for and messing with the team's chemistry.

As far as the money goes, the Magic have the $2.5 million injury exception granted to the team when it was determined that Battie would be out for the season. Webber admitted that he's chasing a championship and is not after the money, which is why before the season started he was primarily interested in playing for Detroit or Dallas. Now that the Magic have shown some promise, he's trying to hop on the bandwagon.

I agree that they shouldn't mess with the team chemistry, but it might we wise to take into consideration that Hedo has come off the bench in the past and done very well. Lately as a starter he's been streaky, last 2 games only 7 for 25 shooting. If he came off the bench as a 6th man and we added Webber in the starting lineup it would make the team that much bigger. Webber's numbers would need to improve from last season though. Another thing the team would need to consider is do they really want to deal with another injury prone player. Webber will miss games due to injury. It has been consistent throughout his entire career.

to those of you who cant see the magic games on TV (like me)

Go to this link

http://www.nba.com/broadband/league_pass.jsp

copy a link location for the game you want, paste it in the address bar and add "intl" after where it says lp

So if a link is

java script:nbaVideoLP(escape('http://broadband.nba.com/cc/playa.php?content=lp&url=http://boss.streamos.com/wmedia-live/nba/9934/500_nba-league_pass_toronto_051201.asx&gid=141''>http://broadband.nba.com/cc/playa.php?content=lp&url=http://boss.streamos.com/wmedia-live/nba/9934/500_nba-league_pass_toronto_051201.asx&gid=141'),escape('blank'));

change it to

java script:nbaVideoLP(escape('http://broadband.nba.com/cc/playa.php?content=lpintl&url=http://boss.streamos.com/wmedia-live/nba/9934/500_nba-league_pass_toronto_051201.asx&gid=141'),escape('blank'));

Works for any game :)

Yes, tonight it's a bit more difficult because the game is being shown on NBA TV rather than Leaguepass carrying the local team's television coverage. If you want to watch the game, download the program "TVKoo" and watch the channel called "Hong Kong Football" with the greatest number of users viewing it under the "Cable TV" section.

Ghetto, I know, but it's working.

Go Magic!

Damn did anyone else catch that game last night? Take out the whole giving up a 20 point lead thing and the Magic played one hell of a game. I know its early but check out the front page of NBA.com

"Rising Powers to meet tonight"

Also Power rankings

And last but not least, Dwight Howard named player opf the week

If a start like this doesn't deserve a new half billion dollar arena than what does?

Yeah man...that was a great game, even if it did make me go gray early. If the Magic can beat the CP3-less Hornets tonight, they'll be the first 10-win team in the league and will have beaten the teams with the 2-best records in the league in back-to-back nights. And their reward? Getting to play the Spurs on the road on Wednesday.

dear die-hards, can anyone here confirm the whole "free donut at orlando dunkin' donuts locations if the magic win" thing? i heard you don't have to show proof, the game doesn't have to be on tv, and it doesn't matter if the game is a home or away game! true?

That's what the NBA website said. I couldn't tell you from first-hand experience.

Holy crap, the Magic win again!!! Are 7-0 on the road and just beat the 2 best teams in the league record wise. Anyone think they have a shot at taking out the Spurs on Wednesday?

do they have a shot? yes

will it be easy? definitely not.

everyone needs to step it up like they did against the celtics.

jameer needs to be the floor general

hedo needs to be aggressive and have the cold blooded turkey killer shot falling

dwight needs to simply outplay duncan

bogans needs to contain manu

shard needs to drop 25
