Went on a bike-about (rhymes with walk-about) last night, and stopped by. Very impressive.

Masonry foundations, elevator shaft, walls, and steel beams, metal flooring. All nice fire-proof materials. What's being built will be a lot taller than what was there.

Some interesting short walls are being added (retaining walls? Dumpster screens?) and I can't visualize what they will become. CitySlicker, could you post a plan view? (I promise to not munge it up with all bicycle parking, all the time, see post #223.)

Also, does your project have a name?

Here's one of the small walls I described above.

Interesting: materials are cut to size, then labeled. Just like a DIY kit from Hobby Lobby!

I just spied this project out the window and it looks like they are adding the apartment portion to the roof (?), that was supposed to go on in a subsequent later phase. Maybe fotoman can snap a photo of the work going on? I won't be able to get by there this weekend.

In case y'all have forgotten the total package with the apartments:

With all that steel and cement, it sure does seem fireproof though! By the way, are they planning on referencing the old Bicycle Factory when naming the new building? It was probably mentioned earlier, I just don't have the time to go looking.

Geez Jeff. I brought my camera in today, and snapped a few shots of this building on my way in. And I was going to run over to Lexington and Fulton and Market and 131 after work because they are right nearby. Obviously I shouldn't have bothered. :P

Yeah, I think instead I might run over and photograph the new cemetary wall. It's completely done and they recently re-asphaulted the road. I think it looks really nice. Might be better for a cloudy day though, since it faces north.

Thanks for the photos Jeff, I have not once been past this project. Every time I see an update on here it makes me think "I really need to go see this thing for myself" but then I forget and there isn't anything else to take me to that area. I think I should write myself a note and safety-pin it to my shirt.

Here are a couple of photos from this morning. They've started laying brick on the front and hanging the metal siding on the back. Also, I saw a shower on a crane going up to the top floor the other morning.

Been about 3 weeks since my last photos, but the dry temperate weather has meant they are really moving right along on this project. We have glass windows going in the front already and a complete shell on the back. As you can see below, only the shorter north side and a small portion of the east side still need bricks.

And, just to jog your memory, here is the rendering. Perhaps I will try and replicate that angle some morning.

You can find a couple of more photos from this afternoon here in the Flickr set (last 7 are from today): http://www.flickr.com/photos/fotoman311/se...57605185641362/
