Neat! It's nice to see more and more people come out of the suburbs and have a happy life -- in the inner core :)

By the way, the same owner/entity in general that runs downtownshortpump.com also was planning on doing the same general website for the Chesterfield suburb with the web address

It always says "coming soon" and "seeking writers"... Does anyone know when the website is supposed to launch? :dontknow: :dontknow:

The Richmond Ballet which has acheived national and even international prominence with performances in New York, London and Chicago will appear at The Kennedy Center in Washington this year.

Last year, its staging of THE NUTCRACKER was ranked as the best regional production in America by The New York Times.

Susan Howson of RVANews has compiled archival photos of THE NUTCRACKER over the past 10 years.  It is now being performed at The Carpenter Theatre in downtown Richmond through December 23rd.  Pictures prior to 2009 are from productions at The Landmark Theatre.

The Daily Beast has compiled its list of the 25 Drunkest Cities in the USA.

Guess which Virginia city is among them?  And no, it's not Richmond.

See how many skylines you can identify before clicking on their names.  :tough:

Wow, was not expecting that :P :P

I would think RVA would be there, not offensive or in a negative way, we love our beer! (Mekong )

But of course, maybe drunkest city doesn't sound like the best accolade.... :P

I know, it's late :P

But I'm sitting here on my bed surfin' on my MacBook with SNL running in the background, and

RVA Riverfront seems like a website that originally was under construction some time ago. Well, it's live now :)

The top may look a little like it's promoting the Canal Walk only, but scroll down, and it really is showing you just about everything you can do down at the river. It is a booming place, anyway. So now that i know it's live, I'll probably be up late exploring each individual page on the website.....

Now we just need midlothianrva.com and jamesrva.com to go live....

I'm guessing it's still a concept right now, but how about one of those membership cards for chain stores, except one made for local businesses and stores? And that too, for the entire city?

RVA Card helps you save and get discounts at stores like Mongrel, World of Mirth, any in Carytown, just about any local mom and pop shops that aren't chains. As support for small businesses, this unites the city by providing one card that all businesses can tag with the "we accept this" tag so that people know they can use this at that store. It is a very neat concept and I hope it comes to fruition.

RVA Card ;)

Mayor Jones will deliver his annual State of The City Address Tuesday, January 29th at 6:30PM from the stage of The Carpenter Theatre at 6th and Grace Streets.

Admission is free.

If you haven't yet dined in the trio of new restaurants in the area, 525 AT THE BERRY BURK at 6th and Grace; PASTURE at 416 East Grace, and RAPPAHANNOCK at Grace and 4th Streets will all be open.

It looks like Google updated their satellite images of the Richmond Area (not the 45 degrees views though). The images appears to be from the Fall. You can see the start of the new 2nd St. connector, the new sorority cottages at UR, John Rolfe Parkway, Gayton Rd. Extension, and the new jail.

Seems RVA is really creative with it's "better city" ideas ;)

After posting about an RVA Card that can be used in local stores like chain store membership cards, I found a new project: Bring city-wide wi-fi to the entire city, for plazas, festivals, or just roaming around the streets. :)

So what's the problem with it? It needs to raise $100,000.....

Well...now we wait. :P

EDIT: I found the official website, too: http://www.rvawifi.com/

It looks like the Richmond region has added another multi-millionaire to it's ranks. The winning Powerball ticket for the $217 million drawing was sold in the Richmond area.

The ticket is worth about $136 million as a lump sum.
