Thanks Burt. I had the answer to my question... I saw it somewhere last week, but I can't find it anymore. Maybe it was extended in the 1920s instead of later. I wish I could find that source again.

According to Henrico's official property maps, their borders seemed to have changed.

After rereading my entry, I realized that you were not referring to Powhatan Court House but a trail off of Rt. 5. I've never heard of it. Tell us more.

As far as the border between the Henrico and Goochland, when you cross on Broad, the signs for the county line seem to be east of Tuckahoe creek, perhaps at the eastern edge of the wetlands associated with the creek. It seems that the boundary follows the creek for the southern 2/3 of the dividing line and then becomes a straight line just west of Graham Meadows Place (south of Broad). Perhaps it is this straight line that the counties were adjusting, since they would certainly slice through parcels of land. The creek serves as a natural boundary and I doubt there would be need to shift that portion of the county line.

Is anyone else having difficulty accessing Richmond City Watch? I get:

php: critical Error

Could not connect to database.

I've been trying on aol. I'll give it a try on Internet Explorer.

11:08 AM. No. It doesn't work on IE, either. Wonder what is the problem?

Okay...

NEW QUIZ for name that restaurant thread!

Heh, just kidding. Any developments on her situation?

Well, a few people have come at me stating that in order for sexual harassment to be taken to court, it has to be a case where something happened once, you tell him to stop, and it continues. It is the lack of stopping that makes it harassment. If it happens once, it is simple assault or battery.

So since she is not planning on going back to work, she won't give him to chance to do it again.

The question is, should she go back? she needs to go back to collect her 1 week of pay. i'm planning on going with her so she can feel safe. but what should she do? should she go back, him possibly apologize, and everything ok? what if he doesn't? what if he forgot what he did or doesn't remember? is it worth it?

She has said, if she can't hurt him by suing him, she wants to ruin his reputation. Should she do that? would people even listen?

If it happened, say, the owner of your favorite restaurant did that to someone you know, would you still go? what if it happened to a total stranger you don't know, would that be any different? I actually told her, i probably would still go, the chef's skills in the kitchen to me has no bearing on what he does outside the kitchen, so for her to do anything, people will hear about it, say, he was bad, and forget about it a few weeks later when they are making reservations.

what do you think?

My intuition is that if she files charges, it could begin a legal cycle that will consume her thoughts and time. It would be brave of her to do it but would be a tough decision, IMO.

She should, however, have no fear whatsoever of going in there to pick up her wages. If confronted by the culprit, she should tell him in no uncertain terms that he owes an apology to her and everyone who witnessed the incident.

I don't know much about the trail, just that the property owner identified it as an ancient trail that's basically in his back yard. It most likely at a time lead to Tree Hill. But supposedly the ancient Indian trail that we associate with Three Chopt didn't just begin at Shockoe Creek, but Richmond seems to have been planned on top of a section in the middle. There was supposedly a eastern branch of it. We have so many trails... I think Williamsburg Ave/Rd was one too... maybe New Market Rd? There needs to be research on this. I did find a V-Dot site with road history. I haven't read it yet since pdf aren't readable on my computer at work and I've been busy here taking pictures and motoring as if gas was 99

Off to bed Tommy! It's late!

Did we reach # 12 today with the shooting on Cowardin and Bainbridge? On a major road!

I'm afraid it's the 16th in the 142 days since the new year. Thank God the mayhem is about half of what it was at this time last year, but it is still deplorable.

*******UPDATE********

So yesterday, she receives a phone call from Lisa, who is the assistant manager/top waitress stating she wanted to verify her address so she can be mailed her paycheck, and to discuss some discrepancies in the till box at the bar. A claim she certainly disputes. She was given the box to put in any cash for the bar, for the wedding. When the entire situation happened, she was so distraught she just left. So what happened to that is unknown.

So today, we both went there to have it settled. First, we went to the front door, no answer, so we went in the way she usually does for work, by the back door/kitchen. We go to the front and a server was there to go get Lisa. He comes down and escorts us outside and tells us to wait there. Basically kicking us out of the place.

After a few minutes, Lisa comes out. Ali starts by saying, i tried to call you yesterday but no answer. Lisa says, oh really? we didn't get a call. Ali states that she called, it rang and rang, nothing.

In a nutshell, Lisa states that she is not welcomed back because she walked out on her shift sunday. As you know, Ali walked out cause she was touched.

So, now the situation changes, she was touched, walked out, gets accused for taking money, and fired for walking out.. but in reality, she got fired cause she caused a scene because she was touched.

Sorry to do a slight change of topics, but I just wanted to let you all know I'll be on Long Island from this afternoon through Monday morning. Catch up with you all then!

I hope you flew Jet Blue. :)

Cam, I think you, especially, will find this story from today's inRich interesting. My question is, exactly where in the river did this ship slide off the drydock? Was it near 17th and Canal?

http://www.timesdispatch.com/cva/ric/news.apx.-cont.

Answering my own question, I believe the ships from Triggs drydock were launched into the canal and not the river.
