In that plazas defense, BurgerIM (and don’t forget BurgerCraft for a hot minute) wasn’t a situation specific to this location.  Hubbly Bubbly closed their College Park location for that matter.   Seems like maybe just the brewery that didn’t pan out as they had hoped.

I had BurgerIM described to me by a broker as a shady business that I guess no one was ever really sure if they had the money or not.

I think each place has had their own issues but the over-arching issue is foot traffic isn't there yet.

With Beth’s gone, someone in this area could be making a killing by opening a quick serve burger place. That’s a hole that hasn’t been filled yet and folks on the north end of the CBD have no options for a quick, well-priced burger.

Although my waistline is certainly better for it.

Mesa 21 in the old Gargi’s On Lake Ivanhoe but soon to be replaced:

From Orlando Weekly

Restaurants on that stretch are turning over even faster than the fusion funky places at The Sanctuary lately...

More on Hungry Pants from Daily City:

Good to see proprietors Alex and Joey were the latest to try out the big cities (Philly and Dallas in their case) and realized Orlando was a better fit (yes, I know many will be shocked but the same thing happened to me back in the ‘80’s).

Oh boy, apparently Popeye’s is rolling out a chicken sammich nationally that is to die for. Sure looks good in the pic!

There’s a Popeye’s at Washington St and OBT. If. I rode my bike over, I can work off the calories!

It must have been a bad Habit... all three local burgeries are closing:

@popsiclebrandon you have any insight here?  Been to the Millenia one a few time and SoDo close to a dozen.  Always seemed to have a steady-ish enough stream of customers and neither location was *super duper* prime real estate like some of the troublesome spots downtown where the financials simply wont work (eg skyhouse)

I had a guy tell me yesterday its a plan they are working on in advance of an economic slowdown. I couldn't tell if he knew something or was just speculating. I guess if we see more close nationally in the next year then might be a plan. Not sure I buy that yet. All I know for sure is my gf worked for months on getting every Orlando Health employee free burger coupons and then we never used ours so that sucks.

Gay sports bar? Woofs in Atlanta was fun; hopefully this will be something in that vein.
