  1. Now I'm interested in this Dexter's replacement. Brian is great.
  2. Gay sports bar? Woofs in Atlanta was fun; hopefully this will be something in that vein.
  3. Crate & Barrel is no more? Shows how often I go to the mall. I liked the Whataburger in Tallahassee long ago. Caveat, drinking was typically involved before eating there though.
  4. It can work verbally if you spin it right so it's "I *could* care less..." with an implicit "...but it would be difficult". I've read that is where that phrasing came from but with English, who knows.
  5. I was very sad that Bruno left and am very happy that Orlando Meats is coming in. This forum is an emotional roller coaster.
  6. Nice list (although poor Sanford is just glommed into Orlando without so much as a mention). Seems like their definition of "best" is "does whatever it is they are doing well, even if what they are doing is being a dive". I guess I need to go out to Disney to hit the few I have not been to already. How old is the tequila bar at Epcot? I've definitely had margarita's in Ep-Mexico but it's been years and I don't remember the bar looking that nice. I think we just got ours at a little stand or something.
  7. They way it's depicted it may help break the curse on that space. A big problem has been just getting people to that side door since it seems like...well, a side door. It looks like they are trying to move the perceived entrance up to Church St., which seems like a good idea to me. I get that they aren't literally moving the door but that framework looks a lot more like "a thing that I am supposed to walk through" than the old alley/back patio thing.
  8. Also, I don't want to go on Instagram because I haven't seen Endgame yet (so, no link) but word is that Suffering Bast_rd (tiki bar) in Sanford is finally open. Looks great from the pics I've seen. Sanford bar and restaurant scene is really hitting it. TIL, this forum auto-corrects the spelled out version of Bast_rd with "Beotch", which I would think would be more offensive.
  9. Very sad to see that Pizza Bruno is leaving downtown at the end of April. https://bungalower.com/2019/04/22/pizza-bruno-leaving-orange-county-brewers/
  10. The blood orange Slurpee sounds kind of good to me. :/
  11. Isn't there still a MFC on Edgewater?
  12. Wow, that didn't take long. How long were they even open? 3 months or so? I didn't really get why anyone would open a chain taco shop right in the middle of neighborhood that is brimming with good, established taco places though.
  13. I wish this concept would take off more locally. Courtesy has a nice array of vermouths, amaros, etc. but a lot of bartenders aren't well-versed in session-type cocktails. I've got no problem with Campari and soda but it's nice to have additional options.
  14. Here are a couple of photos from Robinson Room. I just stopped in for one since I was meeting friends elsewhere but it looked nice and my drink was good. HH is an $8 cocktail list with some other options (I forget the specifics re: beer/wine). The drinks were craft. It wasn't as gloomy as my poor photography skills might suggest.
  15. The Globe wasn't my favorite but I loved The Go Lounge and Yab Yum.
  16. Robinson Room (the cocktail lounge going in above the old Red Mug Diner on Pine) posted on IG that they are planning on opening "in January". I'm interested in seeing what the place will look like since Mather's has a pretty distinctive look.
  17. "Participating in" might have been a clearer word choice on my part than "doing" but I understand that it's a national thing with pre-determined elements (menu, special glassware, etc.). However, it's the same bartenders in the same space making seasonal drinks (as they always do). They still have free Pig Floyd's on Sundays; they still have happy hour, etc. I think "They do Miracle" is accurate for a given definition of "do".
  18. OW had a blurb that Robert Treviño (chef owner of El Buda) is opening up a ceviche place, theoretically before the end of the year. Treviño has linked with the team at Don Julio Mexican Kitchen on South Chickasaw Trail, and will soon open a ceviche bar in the space next door, appropriately called Ceviche Bar by Don Julio. https://www.orlandoweekly.com/Blogs/archives/2018/11/30/iron-chef-contestant-roberto-trevino-heading-up-new-ceviche-bar-in-orlando?utm_source=widget&utm_medium=articleblog&utm_campaign=endofarticle&utm_content=MorebyThisAuthor BTW The Courtesy, downtown, is doing "Miracle on Orange" again this year. They re-do their menu and decor for Christmas with special drinkware, etc. It's pretty fun and their cocktails are always good.
  19. Bungalower has an article on it. It's going to be "Eola General" and the guys from Dixie Dharma and the food court place in Sanford are behind it.
  20. Yeah, that place across the street (Mesa? w/e) has a great view but that's not enough to get me to go back to it. Calling it mediocre and generic is generous.
  21. Wait, Sunrail loses money on collecting money? So the maintenance on the ticket machines and the cost of having someone vaguely possibly checking to see if you have a ticket costs more than the money generated from the tickets? Or am I missing some expense? That would never have crossed my mind as even being a possibility. TIL, etc.
  22. Remember Pesce (where WoB is now)? Lesson #1 for aspiring restaurateurs - if your staff's paychecks bounce they *will* be on the local news telling everyone.
  23. Disappointing. I think if it had been in an even halfway-decent location it could have addressed the service issue.
  24. I remember a Barnie's in DPC (but this was maybe two years ago). It looked like it was an event-only thing (unless there are enough building employees to support it?). It seemed like it would be weird to wander in there off the street just for coffee since it was upstairs.
