^I was disappointed to read that the main renovations they were doing to the plaza had to do w/the concrete drives. Not that I don't want that done, but I was hoping they were going to "jazz" up the Plaza a little more. The signage is dated and the over-all look is dull and drab. I've noticed in several other cities around the state and nation have spruced up their bus plazas w/bright colors etc. Do you know if anything like this is in the works for C.K. Steele?

80X expands to Bradfordville

You can now go from Bradfordville Target to Southwood TownCenter w/out a transfer. This also marks the first time StarMetro has provided service outside the City of Tally.

T-man are you still using the 80X?

Is StarMetro still providing the Park & Ride service? Looks like now that service would be more in demand than ever.

The 80X has been going to Bradfordville since August. Poonther, where have you been? :P

The park and ride lots are part of the 80X. The route makes stops at them, so they are continuing to exist so long as the route does.

I've used the 80X, but only from the Plaza to Southwood.

Well definitely not on the 80X.

Really since August? Then why has it taken COT until now to issue a press release and get the Mayor out there? They are calling it the new "extension." Did they add something to the route?

Come to think of it, I have passed the 80X on T'ville Rd.

The 80X first started in December 2006, and it was only from the plaza to Southwood. In August 2007, it was extended to Bradfordville.

I've seen all sorts of advertising for the 80X, back to October/November 2006 before the route was started. There was even a commercial for it, with a guy dressed in a space suit. But I can see where non-bus riders would not know about the service.

It the city is just now advertising the service, it's asinine. As usual, the COT is a day late and a dollar short.

Actually, August 2006 marked the beginning of the 80X, which traveled from Downtown to SouthWood. Then in September 2007, StarMetro introduced the Park-And-Ride Community (PARC) for commuters traveling from Northern Tallahassee. The PARC program allowed riders to park their cars in Market Square, next to Premier Fitness then ride the shuttle into Downton via route 16. Riders responded very well to the PARC program. With the growing PARC community and CCOC workers saying, "I live in Killearn and I would use the service if it came to me," StarMetro added the Northern extension of the 80X route. The extension would begin at Bradfordville, travel through Downtown, then end at SouthWood. December 2007 marked the launch of the Northern extension, it was a soft launch to work out all the kinks before majorly marketing the route. Not to mention that at the time the service first began StarMetro's Marketing Specialist position was vacant. Now with gas prices as high as they are and commuters from Thomasville and Northern Tallahassee driving near the first 80X stop it makes perfect sense to advertise hard for this route.

The renovations at CK Steele consist of reconcreting the plaza floor to make it a more smoother ride throughout. The renovations will more than likely take place until September 2008.

I love that commerical! Super-catchy! In fact, I find myself singing it throughout the day.

Adams Street between Tennessee and Call is closed for several months due to renovations at C.K. Steele Plaza. Some of the buses are using Adams Street to unload/pickup. I'm happy to see the plaza get renovations done.

Has anyone seen the latest StarMetro commercial? It uses the "wheels on the bus" jingle. A nice little commercial, and catchy too!

As I was telling someone this morning.........it was heartwarming to see Mr. Sheffield and Mr. Scheib both riding the 80X. It's nice to know that people that are making decisions on transit are actually using it (unheard of anywhere else)! :good:

Just curious...where did you board the 80X and at what time? I knew that the 80X 6:40 am pick up from Target was full, but I had no idea that the afternoon routes to SouthWood were getting crowded. Check out the newest release from StarMetro on talgov.com.

Word on the street is that Starmetro will be running a new route out to the airport FINALLY! after tons of people have called and written begging for it. it looks like star metro could be a viable transit system, if they get new transfer hubs around the city and keep expanding routes GO TLH
