You're right, why bother with history when you have "common knowledge?" I was never worked up, were you?

You're exactly right. The Republicans entire philosophy on spending can be summed up in your last sentence, with no room for debate since it is "pretty much accepted" (by whom? how many people were sampled? where are these numbers coming from?) There are far more than 2 or 3 D's who did/will/may vote against it.

Yes, she is a Republican, in name. And I know she has claimed she has the votes. And as you know, all politicians are always honest. The votes are on flsenate.gov (SB 1212). You can find them there, its all public record.

Your first sentence and last sentence in the first paragraph are both arguable. Look at the committee votes so far, and you will know what party is trying to pass this, and what party is trying to block it. So, I guess I just told you

Isnt it ironic that the "mass-transit friendly Democrats" are the very same Democrats who are blocking SunRail?
  6. ^ You're right, Yon Hall is on the east side of the stadium, but hasnt been a residence hall for almost 15 years. http://www.housing.ufl.edu/housing/about_history.html#yon Although the article says it was funded by the Athletic Dept, not the school itself. The Athletic Dept uses private money on many things, so I'd be interested to know what the public/private monies spent on the hall actually were.
  7. You are wrong. No public money has been used to build any part of the Swamp. Bright House Stadium is ok for UCF football, but inadequate for major college bowl games.
  8. Tallahassee comes in 4th on the list as worst cities in America to find jobs. http://www.myfoxtampabay.com/dpp/news/loca..._florida_031309 (pdf link included in above page for complete listings) Why do you think this is? Is it just the fact that the massive amounts of state employees here are holding on to their jobs as opposed to constantly changing positions as they did in the past? Is it the fact that COT and Leon County leaders (read Bill Proctor) refuse to bring more industry/business to this town that so goes the state goes Tallahassee's employment opportunities? Discuss.

1212 is being heard in the Senate Transportation Committee now. If anyone is online now and wants to watch the committee meeting, here's the link. Click on the "Watch Broadcast" next to Transportation. http://www.flsenate.gov/Session/index.cfm?...amp;Tab=session

haha no, but everything is looking good up here. Almost done.

The commuter rail looks like it may have an easier "track" this year (ok, corny, I know). http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/news_poli...ets-a-favo.html Its a good thing Sen. Gardiner is chairing the Committee on Transportation, and that he has some clout as a freshman senator.

haha no. There has been a lot of negotiating/talking about this project during the "off season." Dockery is trying to get what she wants out of it, which will likely be that it is named the "Paula Dockery Commuter Rail System."
  13. Sorry if this has been posted, but Disney released the rendering of the Four Seasons resort that will be on the northeast side of Walt Disney World. Story here: http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/business_...disney-w-1.html

    Malls

"Those are really not a Tallahassee Mall specific issue. It's just been continued throughout the economy and through struggles that these larger chains have been going through over the last couple years," - Steven Darby. Dont blame me, blame that man behind the tree. The fact is Tallahassee Mall continues to deliver a far inferior product than Governor's Square and the planned Devoe development. They sign a lot of local independent stores to leases, and honestly, that isnt going to do anything for the quality of the mall. As Commissioner Desloge said, "This is capitalism at its finest." Good riddance, Tallahassee Mall. Let's build a new minor league ballpark there!
  15. Good point. It makes sense hubs will not be effected as much. I should have used "most" airports the second time as well instead of "all."
  16. I would say that most airports around the country are feeling the same thing. High oil prices effect all airlines at all airports, not just OIA.
  17. I havent seen this posted on here, so I wanted to provide a picture and link to some renderings and site plans to the Gwinnett Braves' new stadium off Buford Rd. Looks like its going to be a nice complex. http://www.brandproperties.net/development...ettbraves/files

I'd never heard of a Bass Pro Outlet either...I have a feeling that it may be the RRM being kept alive by rednecks themselves haha KIDDING. I would love if a Bass Pro would come to Tallahassee. I think the location in Destin gets away with no interstate because if the amount of tourist traffic it gets, and because it is one of the premier areas in North Florida for offshore fishing.

    Malls

I've heard two things on the Bass Pro Shops front...The first is that it has gone from being a full store to an outlet style store. The other is that they are now eyeing land out by the DeVoe Moore property to be more accessible to the interstate. Who knows if/what will happen. I havent heard anything about Nordstroms, but like you I know that they arent in any market our size. That would be great though, especially if they went to Tallahassee Mall, but I wouldnt see them going there.
