Thanks for all the photos RT.

I'll try to get out this weekend and get a few, but I'm in another busy time as you can probably see by the amount I've been posting recently. :(

No sweat. These are photos that were taken this past Sunday when we went to Falls Park and walked over to the Zoo. I've not had much time to get out to take anything additional, myself. I've been extremely busy last week and this week as well. Things should be back to "normal" for me next week, so I may be able to get out more then, too.

OMG i love that part. Heck I love Greenville. Long storie short, we had to meet my cuz from Atlanta there to pick him up(they didnt want to drive the whole way) and they ended up being late. So instead of me and my moms sitting at Haywood all day we went downtown. I told my moms how nice Greensville downtown is and how other cities look up 2 it. I think she was expecting a Greensboro/elm st. thing but once we turned on main she was blown away. (keep in mind shes a small town person, she doesnt want to leave lexington) After being backed up on main, we went down to falls park and walked around. It really took our breathaway. I wish we could have explored more of downtown and the city but we got the call and went down to Haywood to meet them(which is a really nice looking mall). Mom said if it wasen't for the fact that we just bought a house in T-ville she wouldnt mine moving there. I can see now we will be stopping there a little more often on our way to ATL or wherever.

It's nice to see someone get this excited about Greenville. Especially after a single visit. Hey, if you can't get your Mom to move here, move yourself when you are ready to start a career.

Dr. Townes still keeps office hours at Cal - Berkely. As far as I know, he is in good health, good enough to work reguraly.

I believe the last time he was in Greenville was a year or two ago to speak at Furman, not long after he won the Templeton Prize, and yes I understand that is coming to the statue unveiling.

Does anyone know where the Gen. Nathaniel Greene statue is going? I've heard in front of the G'ville News building, but don't see where it will fit. I just ordered a recent biography of General Greene and have read several books concerning him recently, looking forward to his contributions being further recognized.

Dr. Townes grew up, by the way, on a rural farm, near where St. Francis hospital is today, near Hwy. 123.

Isn't it interesting how the area around St. Francis was considered "rural" then? Even though Dr. Townes is in his 90's, it is still funny to think about that area as rural.
