Nice one RT. I believe this is the Wachovia Securities building's Photo of the Day debut.

Also, if you recall when gsupstate asked about the history of the Rock's & Ropes buiding, we found it was once the home of Carolina Supply. That company is still around 100 years later. The black sign in the photo at the rear of the building is their shingle. :D

Thanks, NYT!

This is a beautiful building that doesn't get much attention due to it's "off the beaten path" location. Harper Corporation's offices are in this building, too, I believe. I love the attentiton to detail that was given to the masonry work. This is yet another beautiful old building downtown that we can be very proud of.

That's interesting about Carolina Supply. I do remember when he asked about the Rocks & Ropes building and when you found out the history through some diligent research and shared it with us. I hadn't even noticed that shingle until now, though. Very cool! :shades:

It is a strange to see this in the middle of millennium park. I wonder what the long term plans are for the JDH Homestead? Will this become a historic site? I can imagine the story now- JDH lived in a mobile home, shopped at the Piggly Wiggly and had lunch at Hot dog King every day, to save his money for the good of the people of his beloved hometown of Greenville! Long live JDH ! Could be a TNT movie of the week.
