Residential construction still booming in Cabarrus county like in this new Concord neighborhood of age targeted ranch homes.  Plus new warehouses are being tilted up nearby too at the International Business Park. Yesterday. 

Last photo is the very controversial Dollar General store on Pitts School Road.  Near a school and surrounded by homes this parcel was left commercial zoned so they had the right to build there but the community nearby is upset.

There's a protest planned at an upcoming rezoning petition for 275 acres not far from here.  That'll be in the middle of October. I'll be there.  If the old ordinance Meck had years ago stipulating developers preserved 40% of the trees I wouldn't feel so damn strong about all this sprawl.

One of my favorite ring cities from a couple days ago.  This would just blend right in down in South End, but in Kannapolis it's amazing how tall five stories looks when the nearby structures only rise one or two levels.  Does anyone have any renderings for this?

I would be curious to see how this proposed development transpires over the next year or so....I guess we will have to "stay tuned" for future announcements.

I'll tell you how it'll transpire.  When confronted by concerned neighbors about traffic, the planners and council will say "It's The DOT's problem", as they told us about an addition to "The Farm" on my side of K-town.  The developers will get the rezoning along with promises.  Those promises will soon be forgotten and the bulldozers will scrap the land down to the red clay and up will pop up a strip mall, some cheap houses, and a service station.  Woohoo.

Looks like the kickoff to the Farmington Development in Harrisburg/Charlotte as begun.  This would be a much needed alternative from East to West in Harrisburg.

The airport in Concord is officially renamed Concord-Padgett Regional Airport in honor of the city's former mayor who lead the process to build the facility.  Interesting to know, that at the time of the airport's inception, there was the potential that the City of Gastonia would developed a regional airport of the same scope.

and the airport was very controversial at the time not only from nearby residents but lots of people thought it was a  colossal waste of money.  the city pointed out correctly it would attract development and it has and each plane based there pays more taxes than a single family home.  Both correct and the rest as they say is history.  4th largest airport in NC now.  Scheduled passenger service.
