  1. That's true - I do remember seeing those before. I guess part of my perspective is from the Destination Charlotte page. It doesn't mention anything about a 3rd phase.
  2. I agree. I feel like this came out of nowhere. I've never seen / heard of plans for a Phase 3 and it's virtually impossible to find mention of it anywhere else.
  3. Maybe I'm blind, but I don't see where it says in there that B and C will be included...
  4. With all of the rework to the pick up and drop off areas, why didn't they do an island for auto drop off or pick up? Since there's just the one curb spot a lot of people end up double parked. They essentially are using two lanes for cars stopping which creates a major traffic jam. I was hoping that once everything opened up they'd have a solution for that.
  5. You are such an idiot and just blinding yourself to the truth or something. To say that the Republicans want to draw districts based only on population is wildly false. They are making no bones about the fact that this is straight up political. This state has been close to 50/50 at the presidential level for many years, yet a 10-4 balance for congressional districts is "fair".
  6. The only thing I see not working with your plan is that the area furthest to the right that you pointed out is set for regional jets wouldn't be able to replace B and C unless they had a temporary configuration with only every other gate open or something.
  7. It doesn't matter - they won't work anyway. I can't for the life of me figure out why these walkways are always shut down. Are they that hard to maintain?
  8. Uhhh... https://www.cnn.com/2023/06/15/us/montana-john-howald-lgbtq-hate-crimes-sentencing/index.html The big problem with people like yourself is that you don't see the racism/sexism/homophobia/etc. around you because either a) you live in an area where there are few people of color and LGBTQ people are closeted so there are less instances of true conflict or b) you just see things through a different lens so you don't see or hear the things that are being talked about - you just see the negative things that random people of color / supporters of BLM do and assign them to all of that group.
  9. There's no doubt that UNC Charlotte is feeling a ton of pressure right now. The current administration (not wholly wrongly) is desperate to make the university a major player in the state (athletics, research, enrollment, etc.) but the state politicians and BOG continue to push back and treat Charlotte like a 2nd tier institution. For instance, Charlotte staff are paid using a pay scale that's a tier lower than Chapel Hill and NC State. Additionally, moving the athletics program into that higher tier takes a lot of donor money and that doesn't seem to be coming in. We haven't even been able to move forward with the football stadium expansion that is supposed to happen. I honestly don't know how much that had to do with this resignation. Anyone think it could be working for a difficult boss???
  10. According to the Harrisburg Planning / Projects site, this project was withdrawn. Bummer.
  11. Unfortunately this means that we will have less views (at least the close ups) of planes departing. It will mostly just be arrivals now. That's unfortunate. Once the new runway is built we might have a view of both, but that still will be mostly for arrivals.
  12. Seems like a misunderstanding of what was being posted. KJ wasn't saying that the Eastway facility was close enough to use and therefore one of the Eastland site would be duplicative. If there's something else that I and others missed in the post(s) then please make sure that's clear.
  13. Thanks! I learned something new today!
  14. It's definitely true that the airport "terminal" is underwhelming compared to most, but I do wonder how many comparable US cities there are? Obviously, we're nothing like New York or LA. but for the most comparable these are the only ones I can think of: Orlando Tampa / St. Pete Philadelphia / Trenton Dallas Houston Of course, Dallas and Houston's 2nd airports are much larger and more established. Orlando and Tampa's 2nd airports have actual terminal buildings. My criteria was where the 2nd airport is part of the metro and not a 2nd, close, large city (such as San Francisco and San Jose, or Miami and Fort Lauderdale). Particularly where the airline essentially advertises that you're flying to the main city (thus why I thought of Philadelphia). Are there any others I missed?
  15. I picked up my mom at the airport on Wednesday evening. She flew in on Southwest. She's older now so she doesn't walk tremendously fast, and obviously had a long walk to get from the gate to the terminal. Even after all of that time, when we walked down to the A baggage carousel, we still waited about 30 minutes until the bags came out. Does anyone know why it is taking so long? Are they short staffed or is it the renovations?
  16. This will be awesome. For years I have thought that the Overlook could be an even better amenity for both the airport and the city, but that it really needed some facilities. Namely bathrooms but some sort of food option as well. There are always so many people there but it can be a little difficult to stay for any period if you have smaller kids... This could really be something that helps define our airport and make us unique!
  17. It is extremely common. Yes, Denver is obviously a flight destination for most "common" people (ie. those who don't have an s ton of money) who are going out west to ski. Rent a car and go up to Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper Mountain, Steamboat Springs, Estes Park, or even Vail and Beaver Creek. I lived in Colorado for 3 years and drove up from Colorado Springs to those regularly. Never once thought about trying to go to Aspen or anything further west.
  18. So when I look at the renderings I have 2 immediate thoughts: Man I really wish they'd made this a new terminal with ticket counters and security That hike all the way to the end will suck! That even LOOKS really far just in the rendering. I know there won't really be people connecting from the end of the A expansion to E but could you imagine doing that?
  19. Did anyone else really hate the concessions experience at the game? My son was hungry (otherwise I wouldn't have gone) and we got in line (we were on the 500 level) with between 5 and 10 minutes left in the first half. We waited in line through halftime and 15 minutes had passed in the 2nd half before we got back to our seats!!! I mean I know it was a big crowd but don't the Panthers have crowds like that most home games? How in the world was it sooo bad? Otherwise the experience was great!
  20. This is an idiotic but not surprising statement. You think Putin is attacking because Biden is in office? He was what, scared of trump? More like he knew trump was undermining NATO and wasnt as worried about it. And they likely had an agreement - leaving it to trump to just blackmail Zelensky. Crawl back under your rock.
  21. That's a red herring. If they truly believe these are bad policies then that's fine. If they think that they're mostly good policies but could cause them to be voted out, it's not. As Democrats, I imagine they agree with a majority of the actual policies. Also, do you just want NOTHING to get done? It would be different if the Republicans didn't always vote party first, but they do. If any Republicans would break out and vote with the Democrats, and the filibuster weren't a thing, then it wouldn't matter.
  22. I understand what you're saying, but guess what - Democrats won and are in the majority. So the alternative is that NOTHING happens? This isn't like the old days when liberal republicans from the northeast would vote with the democrats and get them over the finish line. My point was they need to not think about the next election and realize instead the opportunity that the DEMOCRATIC PARTY - THEIR PARTY - has to do big things right now. But you're not going to agree with this...
