Another plus for the Gators: Miss State, who UF beat last week, defeated Auburn 23-9.

That should also be good news for UCF since Auburn ranked above them.

Yeah, I actually got criticized in this thread last week because I pointed to the Miss State win as a barometer of how good a coaching job Mullen was doing...

Geaux Gators!

:tw_mrgreen:

Grantham is a defensive genius.  And we are without 8 secondary players to boot.

LSU’s secondary was really good which kept our WR’s in check.

Franks’ INT in the end zone nearly killed everything for UF in the second half, from momentum swings to the offense looking like zombies at times.  I almost felt like Franks never really recovered from that blunder, to the point where when we made it 20-19 and were going for two, he just threw it out the back of the end zone b/c everyone was covered-as if he thought he had another down to throw it again.  Otherwise, he did keep a level head to a point post INT, to be fair.

LSU’s defense was supposed to be the best in the SEC and/or country.  Our offense should do better in future games on our schedule.

Toney Toney Toney is one of the fastest, dynamic players out there.  They need to get it in his hands more often.  I never saw Pierce at RB on Saturday.  I guess they felt they’s Go with Scarlett and Perine because of their experience.

Franks was great, IMO. Showed a lot of maturity to keep level-headed after throwing that INT. Made good decisions not to turn the ball over again with several that he "threw away" including the one into the 3rd row in the stands you mentioned and a couple in the sidelines that were when he was pressured or about to get sacked but got the ball out past the LOS and close enough to a receiver not to get flagged. That looked like an NFL QB decision-making. He was key on our go-ahead drive with the throw and then the key trick play catch.

We have ourselves a head coach and a DC who actually know what they are doing now. We have ourselves a QB who is making smart plays and level-headed enough to win a close game against a top 5 team, even if he isn't gonna win the Heisman.

And most importantly. IT IS FUN to watch Gator games again. I said last night many times watching the game: "Even if we don't win, I am so happy we have a real coach now and can play good football to be competitive in games like this."

But when are y'all gonna name it? What's the replacement for the Fun 'n Gun?

The Coaches' Poll is in and our Hometown National Champions are Florida's best at #9!

Miami is at #15 and the Gators shoot up to #16. Oh, and the Bulls make an appearance at #23!

Right now, the AAC has three undefeated teams. They are UCF,USF and Cincinnati. If that continues, look for a shootout as those are the last two teams we play in the regular season. AAC is the Power6 Conference, indeed!

Charge On!

In the AP poll UCF made it to #10. Interestingly, the American had three teams make the top 25 (USF at #23 and Cincy at #25 were the other two), which matches the number of teams from the ACC, Big 12 and Pac-12.

The Gators and The U were #14 and 16, respectively.

It looks like, whether intentionally or not, there's a movement (at least among AP voters in the press) to lend legitimacy to the idea of the P6 concept.

It remains to be seen if the CFP will buy into such a notion when their initial rankings come out later this month. Of course, all three AAC schools have to keep winning, but it sets up a huge contest of ranked powers just before Thanksgiving with UCF playing Cincy and then USF in their last two regular-season games.

(That would be fine for UCF, but still leaves unanswered the problem of independents- like BYU - and other G5 members -like Boise State or FAU - should they bubble up eventually. Notre Dame  was more or less covered by a tacit agreement back at the dawn of the CFP.)

Wow.  Cincinnati.   Wow.  I watched the CInci-UCLA game at the start of the season.  Very happy for Luke Fickle.  Meyer kept him on his staff after 2011.  He’s really done a good job of coaching up his team.  It showed when they schooled Chip Kelly’s bunch and even up to now.

UCF has street cred this year based on last year’s performance coupled with this year’s performance.  In 1993, UF finished by beating WVU pretty good in the Sugar and finished in the Top 5.  They started 1994 No.1 as a result.  That’s how it goes.

So, we have a new Most Valuable Team in college football. It's  Texas A&M with average annual revenue of $148 million. They passed by the previous #1, Texas.

Guess the Aggies really can afford all that money they're paying Jimbo...

About 4 years ago they had a stadium expansion master plan with a price tag of $400M+.  Slive was salivating at the mouth at the prospects of adding them back in 2011-12.

If you didn't notice Saturday, Pitt beat fellow P5 member Syracuse. Syracuse had previously beat FSU and lost to Clemson by only 4 points.

Why do we care? Because our only shot at a P5 team this year thanks to Florence was Pitt. And we sent those "floppers" to bed with a spanking.

After awhile, it becomes pretty clear our Hometown National Champions will take on whoever lines up in front of them and win (at least based on the last 18 games!)

P6 IS REAL

P6 IS REAL (even ESPN is starting to believe!)

Sadly, some of the wankers keep repeating tired old mantras that make no sense:

http://amp.miamiherald.com/sports/college/article219691100.html

Sometimes you just want to send a box of "The Emperor Has No Clothes" to these guys.

The More You Know... The lifetime record of the Crimson Tide vs. UCF is 0-1.No wonder they don't wanna play us. *giggles*

Well, the AAC is definitely where the excitement is, according to SBNation:

https://www.sbnation.com/platform/amp/college-football/2018/10/9/17954724/college-football-standings-2018-conference-division-races-favorites

It seems the AAC East is the conference division with the most possible DRAMA going forward. Yay us!

Did you see the article on USAToday about "if the bowls happened today" or something like that.  It had UCF playing UF in the Peach Bowl.  They have UF in the UCF role from last year and UCF in the Auburn role from last year.

It's way too early for that garbage, but I can't imagine the drama around these parts if that happens.

SaturdayDownSouth has a weird obsession with knocking UCF. Like, weird.

Think about it. Many of the SEC schools are hardly academic powerhouses and several of the small towns they're in are barely growing. What do they have besides football? And now upstarts like UCF dare to come along and usurp the one thing they excel at. It's not terribly surprising.
