Are we waving the checkered flag on this one's construction yet?

I couldn't remember where we ended up with this development so here's what I believe to be the latest rendering. Better than another drive thru or strip mall, but certainly leaves a few things to be desired.

Really ugly.  I would prefer a nice eggplant Mousaka at the old Athens Restaurant to this monstrosity.  Nasty face at 8th Avenue street level IMO.

There's ground level retail it looks like, not a drive through, not a parking lot in front.

I'd say overall it'a win.

Remember Craft Brew'd? It was a great place to hang out in Melrose. It closed and was turned into a vape/liquor shop with stadium-grade lights glaring onto the street. I see the evolution of that building as emblematic of the whole area. It was taking steps toward a more walkable urban neighborhood, but has been pulled back down toward automotive use-only turnpike.

Blackbird Realty Ventures will lease its Midtown building located at the West End Avenue and Broadway split — recognized for its large The Nashville Sign electronic billboard — to an auto-centric food and beverage business.

One Garage Nashville — a members-only club that will include an open-to-the-public restaurant and bar — will operate from the space.

“We’re excited for this company to come to the Triangle. Their vision aligns with the automotive history of the property,” Blackbird Realty Principal Chenault Sanders says.

Blackbird Capital (the parent of Blackbird Realty Ventures) finalized assembling four Midtown parcels at the West End Avenue and Broadway split, creating what the company said is a suitable site for future redevelopment.

In addition to 1616 Broadway, the company owns 1701, 1705, and 1707 West End Ave. Combined, the four properties span approximately 1.37 acres.

Rumors have been that eventually Blackbird is planning a 1 or 2 tower project in the 20-30 story range for the combined sites.
