To me, the Tennyson units look far superior to those at Gameday or whatever the name is now. The G'day units look like a hotel. Nice suites for a hotel, but they make for low-quality sorta tacky condo units IMHO.

Not much progress on Coffee Shop.......

I inquired and was told not to expect this to be ready before September/October.

Dang TJ, that was a quick update. You are the roving reporter on all things Urban Tally.

I hate that they won't be open until fall, however I do tend to drink hot drinks less in the summertime. If they were smart, they should get their act together and try and open as the students come back to town for fall and before the home football games.

Does anyone know who's the owner of this coffehouse?

Didn't know his name, but he often worked out of the Downtown store. I would describe him as 5'8"-5'-11"ish, Hispanic, Dark haired, athletic build, in mid-late 20s, no older than 35. Nice fella. At least he said he was the owner.

I was curious as to who was the owner/operator of the proposed coffehouse on Kleman.

If you read today's article, they speak of these 30 locations in a different way than most of us may be thinking. I think the person being interviewed intends on setting up little sections in Convienance stores, and perhaps retail stores, as well as a few stand alone locations. For some reason I can even see DD talking to the Leon County school board or perhaps the state's CAFE people. Who knows. But I don't think they actually intend on putting up 30 physical stores, that would be financial suicide, in a city of ANY size.

I peeked in yesterday and saw that they were just about ready to pour the concrete floor in the coffee shop. They left a sunken area in the original construction so that they could add under-floor plumbing and wiring, along with some big foam blocks so it would require less concrete.

Also, this welcome change was underway this morning...(the old sign was being taken down).

Hey all,

I visited the Tallahssee Center today to inquire about the sign removal. I was told that the sign was going to be replaced by a larger sign. I asked if the new sign would read "The Pointe" or "Tallahassee Center" or some combination of the two and the nice young lady told me they are dropping, "The Pointe" and will go strictly as, "Tallahassee Center".

I support this decision to drop "The Pointe" as I feel this was very confusing. I'm also hoping they can use Metal lettering for the new sign. For now, it has been re-coated in Stucco and I suppose we'll see some paint applied soon.

Coffee shop work is infact well underway!

Oh great, a larger "fishing cap logo" sign as mracca put it so perfectly.

Hopefully it will be better than the last one.....but I'm not holding my breath.

There is a new sign up on the west side of the building (there was not one there before). I presume this one will match the one on the east side. I like it much better, though it could have had a bit more depth.

MUCH BETTER! I agree about the more depth, but that sign sure fits the bldg better and doesn't look tacky like the old one.

The other new signs are now up. There are 3 total, and they all match nicely. Once facing bronough, one facing the imax and one facing college ave (which also says "luxury condominiums").

Thats a BIG improvement! Thats actually goes with and compliments the building. I wonder what they did with the "Fishing hat pin?"

Great find there psycuda! I commented on the newspaper's website that I live in Tallahassee and I haven't seen the Gameday Center covered with so much detail in our own paper. I'm glad you found that and shared it with us.

UPdate: Tallahassee Center

They've installed a metal plaque outside the building's main entrance.

Also, the Coffee Shop continues to push for opening sometime soon.

LOL! Indeed. I've seen Starbucks open two or three new local locations during the time we've been waiting on this.

... BTW the new Coffee join on Pensacola Street where the New Subway is, has opened.
