  1. Great pictures but where are all of the people? Oh wait, must be a Sunday afternoon in GR. Looks like one of those post-apocalypic movies where the human race has disappeared (but before the vegetation takes over the buildings).
  2. I drove by today and it looks like the tanks are gone. Does anyone know what GVSU will do on this space? I assume just a grren space?
  3. One more question about the Ionia rebuild, does anyone know if they extend the read brick for the road?
  4. Great to see the work being done in this area. Now if that big red building on the left (bottom photo) can get a total make-over and put to good use.
  5. Interesting they are clearing parcel C. Are they waiting on A because the whole idea of a grocery store is not final? Anyone remember what is in parcel C...retail?
  6. Yesterday as I was driving north on Division, I noticed them clearing out another block. It is the block just south of the Wealthy corner...bounded by Buckley, Division, Logan and Sheldon. I looked on the ICCF site but coould not find out what is going there. Anyone know? Phase 2?
  7. When is this thing gonna get rolling? I drive by every day looking for some activity but nothing. Thought they were suppose to start soon.
  8. This is more Michigan in general but when I was in Budapest, Prague, Vienna and parts of Germany this past June...I saw the Jeff Daniels commercials for Michigan all of the time on CNN International. I even saw a quick blip about the Lake Michigan lake shore on BBC...but missed most of it.
  9. By the way...regarding UICA and their 2 screens... Has anyone heard if they will increase the number of movie times? How many seats per theater? I assume they will not change their independent movie format...
  10. So if a baseball gets lost in it, is it an automatic ground rule double? I think it's great!
  11. Sindhu - East Lansing Taj India - Holland Madras Masala - Ann Arbor Taste of India - GR *** Notice that Bombay Cuisine is not on my list
  12. Sounds great. Do you know the exact location yet?
  13. I heard that there is a new Ethiopian restaurant in Eastown. I have not been able to get over to Eastown yet...can anyone confirm this?
  14. The "Three Greyhounds" pub...in Soho near Piccadilly Circus. So many pubs...you'll get to 40 rather quickly. Do you plan having a drink in each? I never liked the fact that most pubs close by 11pm:( Cambridge and York are great places too!!!
  15. Yeah, I was in there recently too. No more 15' high aisles of breakfast cereal. The Cascade Meijer has chosen Quality over Quantity. I know one of the managers there...she said Meijer modified this store only and they have no current plans to apply this formula to other stores. They did this to compete with the likes of the new Fresh Market. Prices have gone up too...Yikes!
  16. A cool outdoor lifestyle village I miss very much: http://www.uvillage.com/index.html
  17. There is a company in town called "Languages International". Find them here: LI They teach several languages including Japanese. They essentially contract out teachers, so it could take a few weeks or longer to find someone...IF they currently do not have someone. I have taken several Portuguese classes there and recommend them. Give them a call, they can design a class to fit your needs; emphasis on reading, writing, speaking...
  18. This is great... Two Cuban boxers disappeared but then were found at a resort after partying and running up a huge bar tab:) Now they want to go back to Cuba... Boxers
  19. Considering the location and building type, what type of business would you all consider putting in here...if you were the developer? Restaurant? Offices? Retail store? I was in Istanbul, Turkey for three weeks and just returned. In the neighborhood I stayed, there was a movie theater with almost the exact dimensions of this building. It was so cool because it was in a neighborhood that was a mix of private homes (high-rise) and retail businesses. It had 6 theaters of about 100 seats each. There were 4 floors total. When I walked up to the building at first I could not believe it was a theater but it was very nicely done. Once inside the theater, it was like any other. Why can't something like this be done in downtown GR? Why do most new theaters need to be a sprawling "Mega-Plex"?
  20. I was choosing between the Greek Souvlaki or the Bosnian Cevap. I went with the Cevap...could not resist and was pleased.
  21. Yes, I agree...kind of what I am thinking too.
